Chapter Two Hundred and Thirty Eight – Sonic Lightning Walnut

“How is it?” Gongsun Cha looked into the room, and then sat next to Zuo Mo.

Zuo Mo shook his head. “I don’t know. She has been seriously wounded before, not just this once. It is a miracle that she is alive right now.” He had some admiration for her. When he had inspected the female, he had been stunned by the dense layers of hidden wounds inside her body. Was this woman like Wei Sheng Shixiong, and also a battle maniac?

“It would be better if she looked prettier.” Gongsun Cha smacked his lips.

Zuo Mo was slightly surprised. “Do you want to find a female xiu?”

“No, that’s not it,” Gongsun Cha explained, his face serious. “To be easy on the eyes.”

“Tell me, what’s so good about women? Why does everyone like them?” Zuo Mo recalled the paper crane female’s “illusory formation” that made blood rise.

Shixiong, you don’t know this?” Gongsun Cha looked in disbelief at Zuo Mo. Gongsun Cha covered his forehead and sighed. He then adjusted his attitude to that of an experienced person, and began to lecture Zuo Mo in a heavy voice, “Shixiong, I may not be as good as you in cultivation. But if we are talking about the understanding of women, this little brother has a little bit of skill.”

Zuo Mo’s mind became alert. He hurriedly said, “Tell me.”

“Women, the most important part is beauty, beauty like jade, voice like the wind, with a tantalizing fragrance that one cannot pull themselves away.” Gongsun Cha’s face was intoxicated, but he quickly said in a heavy voice, “But, Shixiong, you have to remember, you should just look at women. My master said that you can only look at women, but cannot touch them. We shall just look at them.”

“Oh, so it’s like that,” Zuo Mo nodded, still confused.

“It really is wonderful to meet someone from Sky Moon Jie.” Gongsun Cha sighed, “There is only the three of us. It’s better to have one more person.”

Zuo Mo was silent as he thought of previous matters. After a while, he asked, “Where’s Cheng Shidi?”

“Where else could he be? He’s always at the beast pool. Soon, he will accomplish his goal and cultivate into a ling beast. Hee hee,” Gongsun Cha mocked.

“It’s good as long as he likes it.” It might have been the string of occurrences recently, but Zuo Mo had a much more open perspective on many matters.

“En.” Gongsun Cha nodded. It would not be outrageous to say that their situation was a precarious one. They might have won a few victories, but these hundred something people could not rank up there in the entire Little Mountain Jie.

What they were doing right now, was it not what they liked? The deepest impression he had after learning how to command was that he had wasted his days before.

He suddenly thought of an urgent matter. “Shixiong, where do you think this yao army came from?”

“Came from?” Zuo Mo was stilled, struck silent by Gongsun Cha’s question. He thought and said, “Probably Sky Water Jie, Little Mountain Jie only has two jie rivers, they could only have come from Sky Water Jie.”

Gongsun Cha’s handsome face was full of worry. “But if they came from Sky Water Jie, would the yao army have let go of Clear Sky Sect? When we were at Desolate Wood Reef, they didn’t even say a thing before attacking.”

That was right. If the yao army really came into Little Mountain Jie from Sky Water Jie, any power that would have been guarding the jie river would have been destroyed. Zuo Mo didn’t believe that the yao army would make an exception for Clear Sky Sect.

“Maybe Clear Sky Sect had captured the jie river entrance after the yao army passed?” Zuo Mo thought of a possibility.

“I had asked Xie Shan and the others, but the Clear Sky Sect has always guarded that place,” Gongsun Cha said.

Zuo Mo felt a wave of cold seep up from the bottom of his feet. “Is there another entrance to Little Mountain Jie?”

“I don’t know.” Gongsun Cha shook his head.

———

This question was extremely important. Zuo Mo immediately went to find Pu Yao.

Pu Yao said in a deep voice, “The yao army should have entered from a chaos rift.”

“Chaos rift? What is that?”

“Each jie would have several entrances. The most frequently seen are the jie rivers. But other than those passageways, there usually would be some very small rifts, these are chaos rifts. However, most jie masters, after they have taken control of the jie, would find these chaos rifts and seal them to prevent others from taking advantage of them.” Pu Yao was very familiar with this kind of knowledge.

“Are there many chaos rifts?” Zuo Mo ‘s expression was slightly ugly. If it really was a chaos rift, then that meant the yao army could appear at any time.

“I don’t know,” Pu Yao said, “each jie is different. However, there is one point. The reason that chaos rifts have the appellation of chaos is that the laws inside the rifts are chaotic and non-existent. The higher the level of cultivator, the greater the effect it has on them. Little Mountain jie is one of the smallest kinds of jie. If it really has a chaos rift, it probably could only allow ningmai xiuzhe to pass through. Yaomo will be similarity constrained.”

Hearing this Zuo Mo was completely certain the yao army had entered Little Mountain Jie from a chaos rift. He had found it strange before that the yao army’s average cultivation had not been high despite the organization it showed. The individual strength had been comparable to ningmai. So it was not that they did not want to send experts, but they could not send them.

“How do you find a chaos rift? Can we block it off?” Zuo Mo asked with fear in his voice. A danger that was known but could not be seen was the easiest ones to cause terror.

“The surroundings of a chaos rift will usually have some attributes. Due to chaos, chaos which is not divided into yin and yang, not into the five elements. There would not be any earth energy, nor ling power. Xiu, yao, and mo will all be suppressed under chaos. Oh, it would also be empty and barren. No beast can survive in the area around a chaos rift, there will be no plants or animals, nothing living,” Pu Yao streamed on. At the end, he added, “There are also some secret methods that can detect them, but I don’t know them.”

———

Zuo Mo left the sea of consciousness. He narrated what Pu Yao had said.

Gongsun Cha was very calm. This answer was not far from his own speculations. He only asked a question, “Is the area around the chaos rift suitable for ambush?”

“Theoretically, it is very suitable.” Pu Yao responded of his own initiative. However, he could only speak to Zuo Mo, “But tell him to end the thought. Even the most exhausted lion is not one sheep can defeat. What he commands are the sheep of the sheep.”

Zuo Mo was speechless. However, he still tactfully passed on Pu Yao’s words.

Gongsun Cha’s expression was slightly ugly, but he also knew this was the truth. He was very clear about what the people under his command were like. Even though they had formed the beginnings of an army under his training, but it was far from being able to compete with a fully mature army like the yao army.

Zuo Mo also had no solutions for this problem.

However, this also increased the determination of the two people to quickly defeat Clear Sky Sect’s blockade. That was the only ray of hope for survival.

“Is there any news of yin fiend grounds?” Zuo Mo asked. The power of the yin fire bead was greater than he had imagined. Such a big monster as the Bloody Horn Serpent had been turned to dust upon impact. It really was out of Zuo Mo’s expectations, and increased his desire to find yin fiend lands.

The strength of fifth-grade ling beasts were on the same level as jindan. Even though the bloody horn serpent was only semi-fifth-level, but a power that could kill it would have some effect on a jindan.

Gongsun Cha was also clear about the power of the yin fire bead, and had been extremely attentive to this matter. He said, “Nothing yet, but I will focus on it. Right, after getting rid of Venerable Chi’s bunch, we got something good.”

“What something good?” Zuo Mo’s mind became alert as he asked.

“A maturing fourth-grade Sonic Lightning Walnut tree. The fruit is almost mature. Venerable Chi had been guarding it all this time, but it landed in our hands,” Gongsun Cha smiled shyly.

“Sonic Lightning Walnut! Fourth-grade!” Zuo Mo’s eyes widened as he gasped.

Seeing Shixiong drooling, Gongsun Cha giggled, “Yes.”

Shixiong’s expression was so vivid now! Gongsun Cha wanted to laugh.

Zuo Mo rushed into Venerable Chi’s mountain cave. The place was heavily guarded at the moment. Gongsun Cha was also clear about the value of a fourth-grade Sonic Lightning Walnut. It was a treasure beyond any price.

A stalk of a non-descript walnut tree twice the height of a person. The crown was filled with green fruits, the skin of which was covered in silver dots.

There was no thick ling energy, no blinding light. This tree looked extremely normal. It was hard for people to relate this tree to a fourth-grade Sonic Lightning Walnut tree.

“This Venerable Chi has some good eyesight! Normal people won’t have recognized it.” Zuo Mo greedily stared at the sparkling green fruits on the tree.

“Now, it is all ours.” Gongsun Cha did not have a good understanding of the value of the Sonic Lightning Walnut. He only knew that this tree was somewhat rare and very expensive.

Zuo Shixiong always was bursting with interest towards anything that was rare and could be sold for a good price. He himself was also very happy. He knew better than anyone else the expenses that was spent on the training he had ordered. He felt it was a good beginning that he could create revenue for Shixiong.

Having had a sweet taste, Gongsun Cha wondered if it was time to speed up the steps to create revenue?

Pia, a mature fruit fell off the branch.

Zuo Mo hurriedly put out a hand, the fruit flying into his grasp. He gently brushed with his hand and the skin and flesh was taken off, revealing the silvery sparkling walnut on the inside.

This was the famed Sonic Lightning Walnut!

Zuo Mo’s eyes was intoxicated as he pulled the Sonic Lightning Walnut in front of him.

This Sonic Lightning Walnut was slightly smaller than a normal walnut, appearing to have been made of pure silver. It was extremely heavy, the abundant creasing on the surface released the  occasional spark of lightning. Zuo Mo’s hand was covered in a thin layer of ling power. Otherwise, he would be injured by the lightning of the Sonic Lightning Walnut.

“So this is the Sonic Lightning Walnut? It’s pretty beautiful.” Gongsun Cha crowded over. “This can probably sell for a good price!”

“Sell?” In a reversal of his usual attitude, Zuo Mo furiously shook his head. “We aren’t going to sell even one! This is something that you can’t even buy if you had the jingshi.”

His consciousness scanned the sparkling silvery Sonic Lightning Walnut in his hand as he sighed inside. The Sonic Lightning Walnut naturally contained abundant amounts of hard lightning. It was a natural talisman that could be used immediately. At present, Zuo Mo was lacking high attack power moves. These Sonic Lightning Walnuts had come at the perfect time!

With his thrifty and prudent personality, he naturally was not so stupid as to use the Sonic Lightning Walnuts directly. He also quickly discovered that, while the Sonic Lightning Walnut contained abundant hard lightning, but the kernel inside the hard husk could contain even more hard lightning.

If hard lightning was used to continuously temper it, the power of the Sonic Lightning Walnut would continuously increase.

For other people, it would not be easy to find hard lightning, but it was as simple for Zuo Mo as raising his hand.

[Yang Fiend Hard lightning], a fourth-grade hard lightning, was perfect for tempering the Sonic Lightning Walnuts.

Zuo Mo looked at the branches drooping with green fruits, and the strong feeling of happiness made him dizzy.

“Mine! All mine!”

The cave echoed with the balderdash of a miser.

Translator Ramblings: Gongsun Cha and Zuo Mo are the blind leading the blind in this particular matter. A reason why no powerful great yao have come is given as well as why going to Sky Water Jie is actually a safe choice. Gongsun Cha is stuck very firmly in the mindset of a strategist. Anything that can be used should be used for his advantage.

I’m a little surprised that there were not more of you that commented on Gongsun Cha’s order to massacre Venerable Chi’s group. Is it because he seemed like a person who could do such a thing, the situation made it acceptable, or just that everyone is used to killing in fantasy novels? I’m super curious because I was really surprised when I read that part because slaughter on a mass scale hasn’t been brought into focus in the novel before, and killing was always limited to just a few people with Zuo Mo.

  1. Glad Zu Mo learned more about women, now teach him about men! However, the killing somewhat fit within the story. They were angry that Zu Mo could have died so they killed them in a rage.

  2. Eh, my reaction to his massacre was that I didn’t really see anything wrong with it. Earlier, there was the comparison of the Yao, Mo and Xiu as aliens with humans being the slaves. Because of that, I don’t really expect to see so much restraint or such and such by them. Unlike other cultivation stories, WoC doesn’t seem, to me, to have arrogant assertions of being merciful or good. Instead, they focused solely on strength, at least the Sword Xiu do.

Other than that, Zuo Mo is in for a tough time. Before, he could get away with his cons and haggling and showy strength by the subtle yet amazing ability of keeping a PERFECTLY straight face. Now that he lost it, EVERYTHING is revealed through his expressions. Before, he didn’t have to try to keep a poker face. Now that he lost it, it’ll be a difficult ride to learning how to make a perfect poker face… Unless he somehow manages to freeze his expressions somehow. Or he gets a mask…

    1. thats the real hilarious part about reconstructing his face to be normal XD.

  3. Thanks for the chapter c:
So i guess those fruits will be crucial to killing a jin dan ,maybe.
And yeah it didn’t surprise me much GC masacre, cose it’s kinda usual in xianxa ,tho it’s the 1st time it happens in WC.
To be honest i’m to fond of this particular xianxa’s trope.

  4. Thanks for the chapter!
I was unsurprised by the slaughter, because first, it’s a xuanhuan, and second, if Zuo Mo dies, everyone else dies too. After all, the army will literally die if he dies, and there is no way Gongsun Cha can survive on his own.

  5. Thanks for the chapter!
I think it’s because a)we’re used to people being killed by the thousands in xianxia and b)we already figured that they’d be killed when Zuo Mo got hurt

  6. I was surprised Gongsun Cha ordered them to be killed because the author had just finished writing it wasn’t done if they surrendered. But its true that quality trumps quantity most of the time. Plus they tried to poison the group, a bit of a faux pas in Xianxia. As a reader I tend to detest whole sale slaughter as a writing crutch that cheapens the story but its a staple of Xianxia so what can you do.

    1. I’m with you on this!

I thought the main reason the slaughter happened was because their own camp would have been slaughtered by the poison had they not caught on.

  7. He was obviously trying to avenge Zuo Mo. It was misguided but I’ve seen less sensible slaughter in Chinese stories.

  8. why i dont mind the killing? because it had to happen sometime – zuo mo cant take more and more followers and if they simply let them go? Thats would be stupid – they are in a place with very limited resources, its okay if there is a slightly bonus to not killing them, however they were already hostile…

  9. Hmm, I wasn’t really surprised about it. I was expecting it since the entire “army” was all super bloodthirsty after finding out Zuo Mo almost died and wasted all their lives. I was a little surprised he captured them all first and then cold bloodedly murdered them, but not too much. I was on my phone at the time anyways and couldn’t comment.

  10. Thanks for the chapter
I can understand why he decided to kill them all because they are the reason that Zuo Mo almost died of poison. And if he had died than Gongsun Chas benefactor and friend would have died. Additionally all his hard trained troops would have died together with Zuo Mo. So it was a neccesary move to calm his emotions. That is war.

  11. Thanks!

I felt that it wasn’t unusual because of the games he has been playing with Pu Yao.

Remember when Gongsun Cha was playing Chess with Pu Yao and he pretty much sacrificed all his pieces to take Pu Yao along with him? I feel like playing those war games with Pu Yao is making Gongsun Cha more and more familiar with slaughter and being merciless.
Even if they are just chess pieces, they seem to be very life-like, so maybe he is unconsciously getting used to being decisive about slaughter.

  12. We’ve all been brainwashed when it comes to killing in these kinds of stories. We’ve heard that phrase so many times, being merciful to your enemies is being cruel to yourself – so we take it as a given and think of course the enemies should be wiped out without considering what it really means.

  13. For me, I wasn’t surprised for reasons 2 and 3. I mean, Gongsun was already in a bad mood when he finds out his boss/becoming friend nearly died stopping a plot to poison everyone, and as some double jeopardy, if Zuo would have died, most the army would have died with him. So ordering the slaughter of everyone that nearly killed you twice by despicable means seems a reasonable response to me. When you add in the fact that it’s based in a world that regularly solves things by violence, and is quickly devolving into a state of global warfare, my only thought was that strategically they should have left a few alive to see if they had any valuable information.

  14. I wasn’t really surprised with the slaughter. Their group was completely enraged since Zuo Mo almost died and affected their lives too. No real way to have mercy when they’re out for blood. Reading about various ruthless characters makes it easier to accept that such events happens in web novels. ATG’s Yun Che wiping out the Burning Heaven Clan is one example that comes to mind.

    1. meh, and Yun Che saving one person for future filler from the Burning Heaven Clan is not justified.

  15. Heh i conmented on the killing! Its a shame to kill them those people were not in the wrong. And they supposed to increase their quantity.

Anyway, zuo mo need to learn having poker face now! You cannot con people with expressive face.

  16. Thanks. I thought the slaughter was sad but at the time Gongsun Cha felt it necessary for them having tried to kill them all with such a despicable Poison and injuring Zuo Mo.

  17. i believe everyone can understand the rage Gongsun Cha felt, he heard that his friend and camp was ambushed and zuo mo was heavily injured so he showed no mercy to his enemies, because he thought his enemy wanted them dead even going so far to poisen them.

  18. Well you know they are all sword freaks. Fight openly and break through. Now think how such freaks view poisoners who tried to kill them sneakily.

  19. I perosnally think it was unnecesary killing , first the whole poisoning thing ,wasn’t it just the kong brother acting independently? They even said that it was pity they had no more poison to use against Venerable Chi , this could have been investigated and they could have recruited some talents (?), tho it wasn’t a bad decision either.

  20. i thought it was natural almost killing zuo was equal to him as massacring his army, returning what was almost given is natural isn’t it xD

  21. The female xiu, huh? I guess she probably isn’t the crane girl, but for a cultivator to have remained in Sky Moon Jie to fight the yao, she probably is some badass that Zuo Mo can use.
The chaos rifts are pretty cool. It actually makes me wonder how the various jies look like and work. Something like, slightly connected pocket worlds?? With rivers and tunnels?
Now that his zombie face is gone, Zuo Mo’s respectability seems to have gone further down the drain. He can no longer contain himself from drooling and making terrifying, lustful expressions….

As for me, the reason why I didn’t really care that Gongsun Cha killed everyone was because in my mind, it seemed pretty justified. Although they are expanding, Zuo Mo is needed to place jinzhi on the “recruits”. Knocking out Zuo Mo pretty much means there is no choice to fall back on but to kill any opposition. Not only that, it was quite lucky that the Kong brothers upset the Venerable Chi’s plan to take revenge, otherwise, Gongsun Cha would have had to potentially contend with them + V. Chi + the walnuts. It’s also awesome that Zuo Mo managed to gain a treasure this way, and the reason Venerable Chi chose to bide his time is revealed as well.

Actually, perhaps the most important reason was that, err, I was feeling bloodthirsty on wanted revenge on my wonderful little zombie’s behalf…..

  22. I agree with everyones assessment of the slaughter, but would also like to point put that zumo was injured and unconscious at the time, so he couldn’t put a seal on them, had they been captured.

  23. What Gonsun Cha did was reasonable. Do unto others what others did unto you or whatever conficious saying. They ambushed their leader and Gonsun Cha retaliated in the same manner, only hitting randomly (by killing everyone) since he doesn’t know the real culprit.

  24. Meatbun delivery~
Thank you for the chapter ( ●w●)

Zombie err.. baldie got a new bomb~ a lightning bomb!

About Gongsun Cha mass killing.. at the time i thought that he’s just venting his anger from losing to Pu. but after considering it, that was the logical decision..
Not only it could relief the army’s unnoticed pent up anger for almost being dead without knowing the reason, it could also cultivate their sense of camaraiderie(? partner in crime?), pseudo-loyalty(safe the boss or you’re all dead anyway) and instill an example of how to deal/treat their enemies(or traitor)

  25. I wasn’t surprised about the mass slaughter. Zuo Mo’s consciousness is already spread thin so he likely gave orders about no more prisoners. I am surprised that they didn’t see Venerable Chi as valuable enough to recruit.

  26. I’m normally hard to shake up, but the explanation of chaos made me widen my eyes in shock at realization. Not of yin or yang, nor the five elements. Little Pagoda! Think of what Little Pagoda spits out.

It isn’t the five elements. It could be a combination of yin or yang material since it doesn’t filter for that, but I find it much more likely that it’s based around chaos. Perhaps using it could sunder the natural laws if you figure out how to process it.

    1. Um … … not exactly chaos but you are definitely right, the stuff Lil’ Pagoda spits out is very special.

  27. Zuo Mo needs a mask now.

Pretty used to the kill em all scenarios now.

    Much thanks.

  28. We were more focused on the new face of our mc. On the other matter at hand, it didn’t really leave the feeling of viscous, there wasn’t enough dialogue for me for me to care for barely existing characters. Then again, I was more interested in finding out what happen to our mc, so I would of overlooked a far bloody and messier scene without even a cringe.

  29. Thanks for the chapter.
The massacre of Venerable Chi & company, I was expecting it from the beginning.
Maybe it’s because I have become so familiar with Gongsun Cha’s way of thinking, which is very practical and not burdened by our world’s morals.

It all comes down to the difference between being the attacker or being attacked. Who started the fight is important. This time, the enemy was a group who attacked first, using that poison gas weapon.

Simply put, in Gongsun Cha’s mind:
    1) We attack a group, we’re too strong for them, and they surrender? Okay, they did the right thing. Their surrender makes things much easier for us! We’ll let them live as a reward.
    2) A group attacks us… WHAAAT!!? ATTACK US!? THEY DARE!? SLAUGHTER THEM ALL! MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF THEM!! NOBODY MESSES WITH THE MIGHTY GONGSUN CH… I MEAN, ZUO MO!! *cough cough*

  30. Thanks for the chapter!

Hm… I would say it was more like, he had no other option to. They didn’t know for sure how badly Zuo Mo was injured. They probably didn’t know when he would wake up. He’s the only one who can put down jinzhi on people. If they bring in these strong enemies to their stronghold and then wait around for Zuo Mo to wake up, they might all be slaughtered.

To lead your enemies into your base when you may not be able to thoroughly control them, is dangerous. It takes a lot of effort to keep people confined, because you would have to constantly be on your guard. Everyone is also tired after battle. It would have been very risky/dangerous to have kept them alive, and was essentially a third chance that they might all be slaughtered.

One guy deciding to risk it and taking Gongsun Cha captive, or Zuo Mo captive, and everything would be ruined.

That, and we are kind of used to it due to the genre of the story.

  31. There could be many minor/major reasons, but I think mainly it was that Zuo Mo was incapacitated. They couldn’t make use of the Jihnzi and not knowing how long Zuo Mo would be out, makes it rather hard to control a group about your size and go about your business. Especially when you just lost the initiative of attack, if they didn’t have that at the start they might’ve suffered major losses. Now put that into a “prison” / “Encirclement” scenario, it doesn’t really work.

Keep doing your Ramblings, I like reading them!

    Thanks for the chapter.

  32. thanks for the chapter,
with the killing I saw it mostly as a waste, since they need more troops and specialists. But since lil’ miss had just lost badly to Pu even with his trick, so he was in a bad mood, next his friend almost got killed and without Zuo Mo all his soldiers would perish and his road as a strategist might come to an end. all this caused his temper to flare.
Now Ge understand women, Ge all-knowing!
had a thought, wouldn’t the exploding Mo strategy the Gongsun used against Pu work similarly when they attack the Jindan sect, since they have goldencrow fire and hopefully the Jin fire bead which can be used like explosives to clear the way, and then hide the offensive specialists behind them.
But why didn’t Zuo Mo get a pile of loot to crawl around in and sleep on top of after the killed the Chi guy and all his subordinates

    1. The main problem is the jindan xiuzhe, not the sect. In warchess, Gongsun Cha’s army was on equal grounds with Pu’s troops. What was being honed was strategy and tactics. Against the jindan, there isn’t one big army but one person they have to defeat. It is hard since the jindan is much faster. It doesn’t mean that bombing the jindan is impossible but it is extremely difficult.

      1. But the goal with the bombing and the hidden glass-canons behind them was an attempt to kill that commander, right?
but it depends if the jindan would take a safer commanding position in the back, or be arrogant and go on a kill spree since he believes no one under jindan can be a threat to him.
and while I think that the whole sect would crumble if the jindan died, they still have to initially battle the whole sect in order to get a shot at the jindan

      2. You are right on most of your points but you have to wait to see how Fang Xiang resolves the problem 🙂

  33. Thanks for the chapter WYHCWE, warlord212, and WanderingGummiOfDoom! Man Zuo Mo has lost his best bargaining tool, his poker face! I think he’s going to be missing it shortly…

  34. I think the reason the massacre might have come off as understandable is because of two things. Gongsun Cha was severely beaten by Pu hence, he was already angered, So when Zuo Mo almost died it kind of incensed Gongsun Cha and he wasn’t thinking as clearly as he usually would.

  35. In regards to the order to kill, It’s that I sort of expected that to happen. Lil’ Miss was forced to attack a rival group while their group wasn’t ready to expand. Zuo Mo was both injured and at the end of his rope in terms of how many jinzhi he could maintain, so they couldn’t assimilate this group. But as the group had already shown hostility, Cha couldn’t let them stay there, or let them free once they were captured. The only real option was the kill them.

  36. Personally as far as the killing goes, after you read stories like Sovereign of the three realms, the Emperors Decree, The Warlock Magus world etc, you kinda stop giving big massacres an eye batting. Instead when they don’t happen is when your the most curious.

  37. To be honest I was surprised when he did call out a mass killing.. but then it slipped my mind.

I just hope he wont be a threat to Zuo Mo in the future..

  38. Omho their lives are linked if zuo dies they would die too.
That is why they are on the right for killling then.
    Its self defence here.

  39. It was necessary to kill them all, since ancient times subordinates had to take responsibility for their general, and he almost killed the King. It can only be solve by their blood.

I really hope he gets his original face back. How else will people recognize him?

  40. yeah, I think we are kinda desensitized to mass slaughters. I common theme in xianxia is to kill all the roots, or kill 9 generations of family. Gongsun Cha was really angry they hurt Zuo Mo so him slaughtering everyone even after they surrender is kinda expected.

  41. Well tbh I feel a bit sad…but maybe Gongsun cha had other thoughts. Or maybe he’s just so angry for Zuo Mo.
About the women…AHAHAH 😂 These two are really cute

It’s novel to see someone laugh because of Zuo Mo’s expression lel.
I really want master and those ex elder to see him now

    Thanks for the chapter!🍀
