Chapter Two Hundred and Fifty Five – New Sky Glass Wave
Zuo Mo once again broke out of the cocoon. His body seemed to have changed again.
The skin that once had a black sheen now seemed slightly transparent like black jade. There was none of the shock that came with the first transformation. Zuo Mo examined his body with curiosity. Thankfully, there was not much change on his face. It wasn’t that he was afraid of becoming ugly, but it was not a good feeling when the face he had recently adjusted to had become strange once again.
He tested his strength. It was about two-tenths greater than before. Not bad, he thought inside as he started the [Sky Wave Fist Scripture]. He wanted to see how many revolutions his arms could tolerate this time.
Fourteen revolutions had been the limit when he had faced the Bloody Horn Serpent last time.
He started the [Sky Glass Wave] and the ling power quickly circulated through his arms.
Starting from the seventh revolution, his arms started to feel inflated. After ten revolutions, the feeling of inflation in his arms became more evident. After twelve revolutions, the feeling of inflation became even more pronounced in his arms. After that, with every new revolution, the feeling of inflation should increase greatly.
When it reached twelve revolutions, Zuo Mo’s mind jumped. It was possible!
Even though his arms felt very inflated, but there was still leeway compared to last time. He continued to channel ling power. He wanted to see where the limits of his new body were.

Threads of light flooded out of his arms, and swam along his arms like little snakes moving about. It was the first time Zuo Mo had seen such a thing. He knew that if he completed two more revolutions, the Sky Glass Wave would probably undergo another change.
He weighed his options. He felt that he could still tolerate more. Bracing his heart, he continued to channel ling power!
Seventeen revolutions, the feeling of explosion in his hands became even stronger, and a needle like pain appeared. The light of the fist energies around his arms became even thicker, and the rate of movement increased.
The air around him did the exact opposite, their rate of flow was decreasing continuously.
At eighteen revolutions, the lights that swam around his arms increased in speed, and showed extremely unique whirlpool fist energies! Due to the increase in speed, the threadlike fist energies that had been wrapped around his elbow joints quickly were pulled astray. They were like springs that were pressed down by an invisible force. The spring disks that were now flat quickly revolved with amazing speed at Zuo Mo’s fists!
Zuo Mo knew that this was his limit. The air around him had stopped flowing as though it had turned solid at this moment.
Without a hesitation, Zuo Mo raised both his hands, and shouted, “Go!”
The center of the disk-shaped fist energies seemed to have been heavily struck and turned into the start of a helix that flew out with astounding speed!
There was no sound, no howling. When the two fist energies left his fists, they seemed to have disappeared into the air. They were so quick that Zuo Mo himself did not catch them.
As these two fists were released, the ling power and strength in Zuo Mo’s body seemed to have been completely pulled out. Extremely sore, he collapsed onto his bottom on the ground. After a while, he managed to struggle up and sway over to inspect the result of his two punches.
Twenty zhang away, two holes bored into the earth, each was more than two zhang in diameter. They were so deep the bottoms could not be seen. Zuo Mo couldn’t help but show slight joy as he gaped. It wasn’t possible to create this kind of clean and deep hole, like a knife cutting tofu, with just raw strength.
The power of the eighteen revolutions Sky Glass Wave was definitely more than twice as powerful as the fourteen revolutions one. Because there were not quantifiable measurements, he could only make a general estimate on its power. Zuo Mo instantly became happy. Pu Yao’s methods were quite painful, but they were very effective.
After this metamorphosis, the strength of his body had taken another leap forward. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have stood up to support the eighteen revolutions. The technique required in the Sky Glass Wave was not high, but starting from twelve revolutions, the demands on the body rapidly increased with each additional revolution.
This Jade Metal Head really lived up to being a mo physique, it was full of potential! Zuo Mo wondered inside about going to ask Pu Yao some other time to see if he could press some more out. When he had been at Wu Kong Mountain, when he heard the mention of yaomo, he would fear it. Now that he had experienced more, he didn’t have much feeling.
What mo physique, what yao art? When it was used, where was the energy of yaomo? He didn’t feel that his personality had become evil and vicious. As he experienced more, he gradually could see clearly. The so-called yao, mo, and xiuzhe were just different cultivation paths for different innate talents.
Like the yao, born from flora or the essence of the world. They were born understanding the power of the world, and naturally learned how to use their consciousness as a lever to manipulate the power of the world. Mo were born from intelligent beasts, with strong bodies and a mo matrix. It was no wonder they walked the path of awakening the potential of their bodies. And xiuzhe were humans. Their bodies were not strong, not close to the world, but they were intelligent. It was rational they would walk the path of assimilating outside forces to their benefit.
He gradually understood the hatred between yaomo and xiuzhe as he spent this time in Little Mountain Jie. The ling power that xiuzhe cultivated emphasized using outside objects. They needed all kinds of resources. Jingshi required jingshi mines, ling grains, and other ling grasses needed ling veins. Forging talismans required all kinds of materials, needed ores, and other precious treasures of the world.
But no matter if it was ore, or ling veins, all of them needed tens of thousands of years to mature. Even those treasures of the world usually needed several thousand years before they would mature.
But who could wait for more than a thousand years?
Xiuzhe could only continuously expand out and find new jie. However, this meant conflict with yaomo could not be avoided. In here, it couldn’t be said who was right or wrong. No matter if it was xiuzhe or yaomo, these were all for their existence, for development.
Zuo Mo did not have good feelings about yaomo but held no dislike. Things like wars were not something a little character like him had to worry about. After gradually understanding this, Zuo Mo did not have any more mental barriers about cultivating mo skills and yao arts.
Without mental barriers, his progress in cultivating was naturally quick.
Before, he had always struggled with the concept of talent. His talent with swords was really very average. If Pu Yao did not exist, he may never have cultivated to sword essence. That was a sword essence created through being cut up thousands of times. His talent with formations and the five elements were more exceptional.
Now he felt that while talent was important, but many things could not be explained by talent. Comprehension was comprehension, incomprehension was incomprehension. If one did not have talent, they would still be strong if they could comprehend. If they had talent, and did not comprehend, there was no use.
Talent could increase the probability of comprehension but it was not always a certainty. There wasn’t just talent, even talismans and spells could be included in this. Even if the grade was higher, and the power was greater, but it depended on whether it was suited to oneself.
The [Sky Wave Fist Scripture] was just a third-grade fist scripture without any exceptional qualities. For the great majority of Dhyana xiu, it was very normal in terms of power, but in Zuo Mo’s hands, it was incredibly powerful. It was not that other Dhyana xiu could not understand the profoundness of Sky Glass Wave, but that their bodies just could not tolerate the shocking burden that came with the eighteen revolutions of ling power.
Zuo Mo comprehended many things.
The eighteen revolution Sky Glass Wave increased Zuo Mo’s confidence but he only had the power for one attack. Jindan xiuzhe like the Clear Sky Old Forefather moved like lightning. It would be extremely hard to hit them. His anticipation of the formation he was going to set up increased.
He suddenly saw the scattered blood beads beside the feet of the female xiu and made a sound of surprise, “Where did these come from?”
The female xiu did not respond.
Zuo Mo muttered inside but still collected the blood beads. The blood beads sparkled as though each one was made from fresh blood. When held in his hands, he felt a feeling of closeness.
Facing the silent female xiu, Zuo Mo did not have any ideas. The female xiu of unknown name and history was a mystery all over. As to whether or not she was mute, that was just ridiculous. With the female xiu’s deep cultivation, even if she was born with a natural deficiency, there were countless ways to fix it.
She didn’t speak, there was only one reason. She didn’t want to speak.
The only person that Zuo Mo could ask was Pu Yao. He had too many questions he had accumulated.
Pu Yao was not surprised at Zuo Mo’s arrival.
“I know what you want to ask.”
He was sitting cross-legged on the gravestone, lazily supporting his chin with his hand. The gleaming black sleeve naturally feel down, and revealed an arm that was even paler than that of a woman’s. The right bloody pupil that was not covered by his hair was slightly open.
“The greatest unique quality of the Jade Metal Head is equilibrium. Even though none of it is outstanding, but it is pretty good in every area. In this period of time, you had been practicing with your body, ling power, and consciousness. It has matured.”
Several questions came into Zuo Mo’s mind after Pu Yao’s words. “I know the relationship of ling power and the body, the ling channels. But what relationship is there between the consciousness and the body? The Jade Metal Head matured? What do you mean matured?”
Pu Yao rolled his eyes. He had gotten used to Zuo Mo frequently asking him questions he found extremely idiotic. “How can there not be a connection? Those with strong bodies usually have strong minds. Ling power, body, and consciousness, the three of them come from the same source. Do the xiuzhe of present not know this?”
Zuo Mo’s face was already as thick as city walls. He snickered, and was not angry at Pu Yao’s mockery. “Then what about the level up of Jade Metal Head.”
“Mo physique, there was no maturity in the beginning. At the start, everyone just found that some special bodies were very suited to practicing mo skills. Over time, everyone called them mo physiques. After that, about tens of thousands of years, I’m not too clear about mo’s history, oh, don’t think that xiuzhe have the longest history. The history of yaomo is much longer than the history of xiuzhe.”
Zuo Mo found that Pu Yao showed hints of going off-topic and hurriedly pulled him back, “Then why was there leveling up later?”
“Because of advancement,” Pu Yao said then continued, “Jade Metal Head is captain level, and Star and Moon Wheel is colonel level. This is called advancement. Maturation, mo physiques are very special kinds of bodies, but they have a common quality, they can grow. Isn’t it interesting! Having a mo physique, it does not mean that your body is stronger than other people, but that you have more potential than other people.”
“I seem to understand a bit. Potential needs to be stimulated before it can turn to strength.”
Pu Yao nodded, “Right, that’s the idea. Maturation, it means the degree that the potential of your mo physique has been expressed. Maturation and advancement have a strong connection. Only mo physiques of sufficient maturity can advance.”
“In other words, even if I can cultivate to moon soul, if my maturation is not enough, I cannot cultivate to Star and Moon Wheel?”
“Right. There is much scholarship associated with the advancement of mo physiques. There are many paths that Jade Metal Head can advance to. Star and Moon Wheel is only one of them. For example, there is also the Mountain Fiend Root that emphasizes strength, the Clear Wind Fighter that emphasizes lightness and agility. They had explored many kinds of weird advancement pathways. I only know the generalities.”
“Then what is my maturation right now?” Zuo Mo hurriedly asked the question he was most concerned about.
Translator Ramblings:
Long thing today. First, a whole theory from WanderingGummiOfDoom . He doesn’t allow me to tell him any spoilers (unlike warlord212 who knows a lot about this) so … …
So as far as I can figure is she knows ZM from before he lost his memories, and her exact identity I am unsure of.
1) She knows him, otherwise protecting and watching over him makes 0 sense. This is assumption 1, but is supported by point 5).
2) Given 1) This means she cannot recognize him from his physical appearance (since his body has changed), meaning she is using the 5 elemental bead to do so.
3) The power inside her is a similar to ZM’s bead, except it is 1 element. Ice since they describe her powers as being icy. This is assumption 2 and completely unsupported at this point. This only makes makes sense if she is from his past and the beads are a technique of his clan/family/sect.
4) Given 3) based on the power inside of the mystery lady is more powerful than ZM’s bead. This means either A) her bead is more valuable than ZM’s or B) ZM’s is more valuable.
4A) She is his elder.
4B) She is his subordinate. ZM’s bead is more valuable presumably has higher potential because it has 5 elements, but his bead is less powerful because he lacks the appropriate cultivation practices to strengthen it. This is assumption 3, and highly reliant on assumption 2.
5) She wanted something or had business in Little Mountain Jie, which is why she went there after attacking the Yao. If she wanted to kill the Yao leader, she would have stayed in Sky Moon Jie to try again. BUT! After getting to Little Mountain Jie she sticks around with ZM, without going off to deal with her business first. Suggesting her business is ZM. This greatly supports assumption 1.
Given 1) 4A/4B) and 5) the reasonable conclusion is the fact she knows ZM from his past, and attacked the Yao find ZM, since the Yao army was blockading the river and her path to him, and intends to protect him after he was abandoned by Wu Kong Sword Sect. I just can’t figure out if it is 4A) or 4B) at this point. I am leaning towards 4A since she is more powerful/doesn’t bother to talk to him, but 4B could make sense if ZM’s parents/elders gave her certain instructions. This is all based on if she knew ZM from before, but given the evidence I think it is highly probable.
And back to the regular dump of thoughts from me. First, in where Fang Xiang truly disappoints me, Zuo Mo ends up doing environmental destruction immediately after his power-up. I guess the only part that makes this somewhat alright is that he’s pretty much the ruler of this local area so no one will get him to pay or discipline him for seriously deep potholes.
Mo physiques are like pokemon and evolve. Zuo Mo finally lets go of his prejudice against yaomo, hindered in no small part by how terrible Pu Yao once was, and gets to see reality a bit more clearly. Zuo Mo has slightly grown up in the sense he can see a part of the bigger picture and general motivations behind events. He’s gained a lot of information and managed to piece it together to get the general history of the three races. But he still thinks the war will have nothing to do with him, and remains blind to the fact the yao army has him as one of the objectives. This is the first chapter that definitively said that xiuzhe were “human.” It really wasn’t possible to interpret the text for another meaning.
The main character isn’t the best at everything, and Zuo Mo doesn’t have any feelings of jealousy about how Wei Sheng is more talented in one area. In most C-fantasy stories, the main character is the most talented of the generation, and then moves up in power levels until the main character is an equal to the best of a generation ten times his age. Zuo Mo did have a bit of a mental struggle with how he did not progress in the sword as expected, and I thought how he tried so hard to forge the five essence sword set could be a reflection of how he tried to improve what he wasn’t good at, the sword, by using it with what he was good at, the five elements and formations. So he could say, I’m a sword xiu, look, I use five sword together.

I normally take a wait and see attitude, so I don’t theorize things so deeply. Your theory is really amazingly deep and has a lot of merit I feel. It’s a nice possibility of what might happen in the future. 🙂
The most I thought of was ‘Maybe she’s that one girl that sent Zuo Mo cranes in the past urging him to participate in her games’ and left the thought at that.
Same here since most novels don’t follow logic and just make it up as they go, but this one seems particularly well planned or at least thought out.
Why do you assume she is an ally sure she could have known him from the past, and she wouldn’t kill zuo mo until he remembers what he did? We all assume that zuo mo was a good guy in the past but what if he’s not?
True he could have been a terrible person, but why wait for him to remember? Stabby Stabby and be done with it.

I can’t fully remember the details from the previous chapters but if I’m not wrong she was found drifting and unconscious so I can’t be sure about her destination being LMJ or ZM especially.Also I can’t be sure if she is protecting him or just following him because he is interesting until forefather appears. As for her being someone from ZM’s past considering the tragedy ZM experienced she would have already communicated with him.Well there is something attracts her maybe it’s related to yaomo stuff on ZM’s body. This is a far fetched idea but after reading ZM’s neutral view on relationships between Yao, MO and xiuzhe in this chapter it pushed me to think that maybe she is a half breed and she could feel yaomo stuff on ZM and sees him as one of her kind. (I don’t even know if it’s possible also author’s style doesn’t seem like he would throw something like this into the story)
I also think that it is still too early for someone from ZM’s past to appear in the story especially someone really close.
Well I have to say that I am a bit curious as to why she couldn’t just be protecting him as a thank you for saving her.
I mean my first assumption to be honest was something along the line of.

She wakes up looks around and see’s alot of random people, she at first thought she was gonna die by falling unconscious into the river but was instead saved. (She is also said to be poisoned here, dont remember if ZM cured her of not of it or is going to)
So she decides to repay the favor by protecting ZM. My thoughts here on her not talking is simply that she is a big shot or just arrogant and thus doesn’t want to mix with ZM and his group since she is only thinking to protect him for a while as a return favor. Because of that she doesn’t see a need for interacting with his group.
On your own thoughts. I am really confused as to why she also has to have a bead seeing as it is never mentioned in anyway and that from my understanding the bead doesn’t actually do anything for ZM at the moment but can be used to boost his strength. Thus I would assume on the other hand that her having a bead would just be weird since the bead in itself atleast sounded like an item that is used up to increase on a persons strength but ZM just doesn’t use it because it is one of his few clues to his family and past.
Wasn’t ZM also found by his sects leader when he was only a child and also he was a child who had had his face all messed up with his memories blocked/removed. Now it may be possible for her to be someone that knows ZM and the only way to recognize him would be the bead. It would however again be weird to some degree because the item was never said to be one of a kind only unusual. That together with the fact that ZM original face was messed up and he has now been given a new face, he should be hard to recognize seeing as his new features dont resemble him and that the bead in itself might not be all that impossible to get and thus how can someone who just woke up and then doesn’t talk be expected to be someone who knows ZM from his past. Shouldn’t someone who has found ZM be elated and thus talk to him instead of just following him around?
But anyhow her reasons and motives are anyone guess in my book. It’s always fun to speculate 😀
The bead has saved his life 3 times now. As for your reasoning for why she sticks around… remember she is far more powerful than them, what is there interesting about their group? Why would she need to protect him when he has 200 subordinates? He didn’t save her, she was just unconscious and then woke up. She would have woken up either way, just in the mud instead of a bed. I think you’ve been reading too many of the harem type novels where the MC has the girl fall for him just because he helped her out a little.
The bead may not be impossible to get, but it is rare enough that Pu said it was a significant clue to his past. It can’t be common in a place like Sky Moon jie, not only that, if she knew him from before then she probably knew he was at Wu Kong Sword Sect and knew his identity. Following his little group+knowing what to already look for wouldn’t be that hard.
In this case the only precise information we get is that she is indeed seriously
injured and Zuo Mo and CO. by chance found her by the river, then by judgment
they decide to take care of her, after that the interaction of Zuo Mo and the
female is not described when Zuo Mo is taking care of her (cleansing).
In some chapters the author mentions a lot about her looks: ugly, disgusting…,
then when the female wakes up and find that there is some one attending her
injuries; regardless of her looks , critically injured and with no strength to
defend herself finds out that there is something abnormal about the man in front
of her, there is no malice emanating from him and is just helping her.
We don´t know how mortal are the injures but certainly not light and need a lot
of rest; the best option is to recover, meanwhile she found interesting this
bunch of xiuzhe and the man that treated her. She can easily judge who the leader
and stick to him for a while. She takes the mask maybe because she lost it in
the fight and feel ashamed of her looks. About her power in the last chapter it says “The eyes of the
female xiu that was closest to him suddenly lit up with a strange purple light.”
now tell me what is the meaning of this, is she still a xiuzhe? a mo? a yao?.
Maybe she is just some spy that get discovered and the only way to escape was
to fight for her life, escape by the river and hope to survive one way or another.

But why are you angry about the holes in the ground?
It’s the only way to measure the power of his attack as he had to use it on something or someone. It would have been more intelligent to use it to create a tunnel through a mountain but holes in the ground are okay as well, especially as nobody is living there. And with time the hole will be filled with life/rain/earth and so on naturally, creating a new enviromente for new beings. Maybe that beast interested xiuzhe can use those holes to cultivate some worm ling beasts?

well lets see the present situation the reason why anyone is still in little mountain jie in the first place is clear sky sect there not allowing people to leave slower sucking the life of anyone remaining in the jie now as powerful as she is considing she broke out of sky moon jie with her wounds i think not at full power i assume, then what else can she do? maybe she thinks her biggest chance getting out is the biggest threat to clear sky sect aka ZM
and theres a hole in your theory why isn’t she talking?? if she is someway related to his past i dont see reason she wouldn’t say anything SO i think the reason she isnt talking, maybe she doesen’t want to form any bonds with anyone silently waiting to slip out the moment they strike the clear sky sect the best time to leave the jie when the only jindan is distracted
I don’t follow. When she joined their group they were barely 200 people strong, clear sky sect was much larger. They were insects in comparison, why would someone bet on them? She woke up didn’t speak with anyone and just went to ZM, with 0 information. There is no reason for her to place her bet on ZM’s group.
As for silently slipping away, why stick to ZM then? She could have done the same thing but followed them around and stayed in a corner of the camp. It would be easier to leave that way. As for why she isn’t talking… I’m not sure. My guess is it has to do with their past, ZM’s memory was likely wiped to protect him. If someone wanted him gone, killing him is much easier than wiping his memory and changing his facial features. So if she is related to him, she probably knows he doesn’t recognize her or know about his past. If she is his elder she could be waiting for him to get strong enough so she can reveal everything. If she is his subordinate, then she could have gotten instructions to protect him from shadows but was forced to come forward when the Yao attacked.
ok your theory sets on the premise she somehow know he has the glass bead and that she has a icy power that you believe is bead related i see a couple problems
1. the icy power is somehow a bead is an assumption we know too little about her power to draw that kind of conclusion it could also be a special kind of technique that kept her alive
2. her knowing he has a bead is also a assumption we know too little about the bead itself, even zuo mo didn’t know about it until Pu Yao said it.
and right now she didnt seem surprised or anything when zuo mo transformed im questioning if shes even a xiu at this point
I agree the bead is a huge and relatively unfounded assumption and I point that out, but either way we know she is there for ZM and not just there by coincidence. I guess it is possible she is the Mo Brigadier that the Yao are looking for. I did find it suspicious she didn’t say or do anything when observing his transformation, but we know too little about how xui change their bodies. FX does say it is a rather common occurrence when it first happens. I also think Bo Feng is the Mo Brigadier.
As for her knowing about the glass bead? Pu could figure it when he attacked ZM, why couldn’t someone else? If there is a way to place the bead in him, then there must be a way to detect it.
All I know for sure is she is there for ZM, whether because she knows him from the past or is after Pu/gravestone. The fact that she seems to be on a mission to protect him suggests that it is in a friendly nature and not malicious.
now seeing she didnt seem surprised about the transformation and the forming of the blood beads this points to her being mo or at least know about mo we haven’t seen mo in the story so i cant say for sure (other than them being not that intelligent) this points to the reason she is Protecting ZM is because of her interest in ZM mo potential
goddamnit i thought of something else entire thanks to meat bun, xian the little girl that used to send pink paper to ZM, the evacuation of sky moon jie should of passed her ears though we haven’t heard from her in a long time its possible she was worried about ZM still being on sky moon jie so she sent the female ‘xiu’ to protect ZM which could explain why she was still on sky moon jie of course she escaped assuming she couldn’t find him and from then on landed in little mountain jie where she met up with ZM then you would ask how would she recognise ZM, xian the pinkpaper girl mentioned said she left an imprint on ZM so the reason the female ‘xiu’ protecting ZM is on the little girls order and the reason she knows its him is the imprint he still has on him as to why shes not talking… beats me

That doesn’t make sense, the crane girl never knew who she was speaking with. When Pu broke the formation and severed the connection she lost any means of contacting ZM or identifying him. There has been no mention of her since, her sending someone specifically to find an unknown person and actually finding ZM would be too much of a stretch.

Or she could just be a servant of Zuo Mo that escaped the calamity that happened to his family…Now she has found the young master, she will not leave his side even if it means her death.
It is nice to see reasonable story with qiute common though extraordinaire abilities of MC
I hope that mute girl is just mere concidence or at least she does not know him before only interest in him. But I feel she has something to do or is connected with papercrane girl

1. She’s a corpse cultivating Mo, supporing fact: she was found floating in the river with a wound like she had a fierce fight, she seems to have a jindan cultivation despite there was supposedly only 1 jindan in the whole jie, and the fact that she shows reaction to ZM’s transformation.
This theory assume she had a fight and is critically wounded/ needed time to adapt to her new body, she follows ZM because ZM group is/ was just a weakling group that she thought she could destroy if they pose a threat and she personally follows ZM because she sensed something weird/simillar in ZM and is curious to find out.
2. She have a simillar experience like ZM which she’s been invaded by a Yao/Mo in her soul realm, but the controller is the Yao/Mo.
Supporting fact: reaction to the transformation, and her face is ugly…
If she is possessed, it would explain why she’s ugly.. cause the Yao/Mo only consider effective strengthening/healing methods.. then when she woke up she sensed simillar properties of possession in ZM and decided to get near him and try to contact Pu.. then she finally found some proof that ZM is possessed by a Mo hence the reaction..

Possibly, then she could be the Mo Brigadier… hmm. But why attack the Yao and go towards Little Mountain Jie? She would have to know about ZM’s possession before hand, otherwise she would have another objective to complete in LMJ and is not doing it.
The reason I say she came from Sky Moon Jie is because if she is Mo then the only other Mo mentioned or known to exist at the moment is the Mo Brigadier who was in SKJ and the Yao are looking for.
She could have been a stray Yao/Mo that got coincidentally found/fight near ZM’s camp she doesn’t have to know ZM’s situation beforehand..
She could be, but WoC doesn’t seem to be written with random luck being a major element. But Mo skills use very special energy according to Pu, so if she was Mo and practiced Mo skills she would emit a particular aura and out herself. This is why ZM won’t practice Mo skills.
Honestly though, her being Mo maybe the only other real possibility. Most of the other theories being thrown out are pretty poor in comparison… anyway I am told we won’t find out for many many chapters.
Oh right, her being mute is another supporting factor for my theory No. 2..
She feels xiuzhe as bugs and doesn’t feel the need to talk to those inferior to her, hence she use Mo method to comunicate and since Pu is a Yao, he doesn’t know or isn’t preceptive of the message she sent

Before I can theorize too much I guess I need some clarification. If Pu Yao is the 1st foreign object in ZM and the 5-bead is the second, what is the relation of the tombstone. Is it directly related to the bead or a completely separate entity. Possible scenarios include 1) attracted to the bead and is how it came into contact with ZM, 2) came before the bead, 3) came together with the bead, 4) initially unrelated to the bead, coincidently possessed ZM but now related to bead 5) completely unrelated to the bead.
Without the answer to the question above I can’t theorize about the mysterious ugly (MU). She can just as easily be there for Stars in Daytime (i.e. the tombstone) as she is for the bead. Without knowing the tombstone’s history with Zuo Mo saying the MU definitely knows ZM is too much of a stretch.
Why is MU hanging out with ZM? She doesn’t necessarily have to know ZM.
1) Related to ZM from the far past. May or may not be related to tombstome and/or bead.
2) Related to ZM from the recent past (i.e. Sky Moon Jie related)
3) Doesn’t know ZM but knows tombstone and knows or suspects ZM has relation.
4) Doesn’t know ZM, but has “you saved my life, I will save yours” mentality.
5) Possessed similarly to ZM, hopes for clues by hanging out with ZM.
6) Killing time while recovering from injury.
7) Killing time, just plain bored.
8) Mixture of the above
Icy bead? Doesn’t have to be a bead causing the coldness
1) Has a particular strong ice flame (can ZM tell difference?)
2) Has a particularly strong art (can ZM tell difference?)
3) Ice Bead
4) Has a yao or mo inside her similar to Pu Yao and his flames.
5) Is the result of the poison. (speaking of which, can’t the Butterfly cure her?)
Killing yao to get to ZM? If MU has a relation to the Mo that attacked and killed the yao any of the above eight theories can still be explained as we know the yao and mo don’t work together. For instance she’s just plain bored and wandering but ran into the arrogant yao so a battle ensued. Doesn’t have to specifically related to ZM.
Author purpose. You can’t say the MU is there on purpose so obviously she is important to ZM’s past. The author can just as easily put her there because she is important to future ZM development in the future.
@wanderingdoom. DISCLAIMER. To clarify, i’m not saying you are wrong. However, I don’t feel as you’ve provided overwhelming evidence that she knows the Zuo Mo of the past. Your two major points (she’s protecting him, icy bead related to 5-bead) are extremely circumstantial.
You have a bit backwards, the bead was there first then Pu and the tombstone showed up. In chapter 31 Pu goes “wtf is this” when he tries to kill ZM and then almost destroys the bead. So I can confidently say: A) Pu and the gravestone are unrelated to the bead (your point 1.5)
2.1 is possible
2.2 is not – we have his history from when he woke up, and we know she has never appeared in the novel before (whywce has said as much)
2.3 is possible
2.4 not likely, she is far stronger than him and is on a mission to do something. She ignores her injuries and has repeatedly fought some enemy force, the mission must be super important to her. So it makes very little sense that she would abandon her mission to help out a stranger just because they fished her out of a river. ZM never saved her life, he just washed her and examined her a bit. I don’t recall ZM giving her any precious medicines.
2.5 is essentially 2.3
2.6 2.7 are unlikely for the same reason 2.4 is, she doesn’t care about her injuries and has some other commitment.
So we are left with two reasonable possibilities 2.1 she is there for ZM and 2.3/2.5 she is there for Pu/Tombstone. 2.1 she is related to ZM’s past 2.3 she is Mo.
As for the bead, as I pointed out it is entirely speculation. Other than him describing how the power inside of her works to heal her and keep her alive, there is no relation. After ZM fights at the Ling Ying sect and runs from Cheng Heng (blood spider guy) the bead does the same thing to heal him and save his life. That is the only thing I have for guessing this, but like I said in the original post, it is largely unsubstantiated at this point.
Sorry for the misunderstanding because how i worded my comment. I never meant to imply that the bead came after Pu Yao. I was just numbering relations inside ZM with Pu Yao 1st based on screen time and not related to order. As a matter of fact, I always thought that Pu Yao was the last entity inside ZM and found the tombstone there after entering. Was I wrong or do others understand it different (i.e. were Pu Yao and the tombstone traveling together all along)?
I’m guessing that clarifying whether PuYao and the tombstone possessed ZM 1) at the same time 2) at different times or 3) we do not have enough information may go a long ways. I’ve always thought that Pu Yao came after the tombstone because he always addresses about how the tombstone “chose” ZM whereas I’ve always thought that Pu Yao just chose ZM as the only person available when he was being sliced by the jindan.
2.2 IS possible. I said she could be related to ZM’s antics. She doesn’t have to have appeared before for this to be true. For example, she could be related that suspicious guy hanging out the secret paradise. As a matter of fact, I almost left 2.3 a part of 2.2 but considered stars in daylight important enough to separate out, which drops 2.2 down the ranks of likeliness but not impossible.
2.4. The stronger a person is the more sense they have of not owing anybody. Though I agree that this scenario by itself is the least likely but it easily blends in with a mixture of the others.
2.5 The difference between this and 2.3 is pre-mediation. I think 2.3 is more likely but am not going to completely rule this out.
2.6 and 2.7. Agree that is not likely in isolation but must point out that “not likely” is different from “impossible” and I was just tossing “possible” solutions out.
