Chapter Four Hundred and Twenty Eight – Conspiracy
“I wonder how Eldest Shixiong is doing right now,” Ming Lei gazed at the expanse of bloody mist and said emotionally.
The deep fiery red cloak he was wearing floated up in the wind and flapped. Ming Lei’s posture was as straight as a sword, his two sharp brows tilted upwards into his hair, his eyes narrow and had a sharp presence.
“Who knows? Likely better than us! I’m really sick of this ghastly place,” a round-faced youth beside Ming Lei muttered. On his back was a normal Pine Script Sword. He looked as though he hadn’t woken up from his sleep. He was Ming Lei’s shidi, Song Yuan.
Ming Lei’s expression was slightly helpless as he said, “You, you, you have no ambition, so many people want to get in and earn more merit! You, from the first day, you’ve been muttering about going back!”
Song Yuan snorted. “Merit? One needs their little life to experience that!”
Ming Lei smiled. “The more afraid you are on the battlefield, the easier it is for you to die.”
“I only have one life, I won’t get more if I die.” Song Yuan glanced at Ming Lei. “I’m different from battle maniacs like you. Ye likes peace!”
Ming Lei knew Song Yuan’s temperament and wasn’t angry. He said in puzzlement, “I’m just wondering why Shidi is so nervous? The scouts quickly passed back the information. A xiuzhe troops were approaching at a fast speed.
A thread of coldness flashed through Liang wei’s yes. The scar on his face was also murderous.
As expected, they had come!

That’s the trouble with translations though, there are 4 ways of writing Wei in Chinese so it probably would be more distinct if it was in the original language. But my grandma calls all my white friends John and Julie coz she can’t remember their names so….
Even if their names are spelled different, they are still going to be pronounced the same even in chinese.
Native chinese speakers are still human, and still remember names as spoken words rather than written words. So they should be equally confused by all those identically named people (who are spelled different)

Aaaaand there goes any form of stalemate that might have existed. The Yao and Mo are convinced this is some part of a devilish scheme, while the Xiuzhe are about to be pulled into combat whether they want to or not thanks to Zuo Mo’s merry band. Who is ready for some good old fashion chaos?
I kinda wanna Zuo Mo to fight back against all 3 factions giving a “don’t fuck with ge” attitude, but I’ve a feeling he’s gonna accept help from the xiuzhe and only fight against them when they ask him to surrender his ship, just a guess though

That “detective guy” is Lin Qian. He’s a big character. He’s the one who was hiding at Wu Kong Sword Cave with Wei Sheng. Lin Qian commands a huge troop of super elite xiuzhe, and wants Zuo Mo dead because he suspects Zuo Mo’s a minion of the yaomo. (He has guessed correctly that Pu is inside Zuo Mo.)
In last chapter, there were two Kun Lun dudes who talked about their Eldest Shixiong who was a cool and strong genius. Remember? That Eldest Shixiong they talked about is Lin Qian.
As for Liang Wei, he’s a young yao general. We first met him when he volunteered for a suicide mission: protect the rear of the yao army against enemy raids! He succeeded against all odds, and what we have here is his second appearance in the story.

I may be an idiot, only just realizing the title is a pun because he began as a farmer “cultivating” Ling grains.
I wonder why they didn’t just break through. I don’t think that the defensive line could have even slowed them down. They didn’t even need to worry much about these mo attacking them from behind since that would require them to abandon their defensive line, which would be a fairly stupid decision given the information they had prior to everyone charging out of the ship.
But they are trying to break through, what made you think they aren’t? Just letting a whole army camp to move ahead of them and attack would eventually kill them. I believe the river was just the first line with some scouts and token defenses so that the real army further ahead can react appropriately.
The ship is faster than the mo they’re fighting and the army ahead is going to be warned regardless, so fighting here just ensures that the army ahead treats them as a much more dangerous threat than a simple lost ship.
If someone breaks through your defensive line you don’t just ignore them, that would be stupid. You send a few squads to attack them.
Yeah, but a few squads is not an army, and at this point, an army is definitely what would be sent after them.
Because there are too many battle maniacs in the turtle that want to try out their new shiny swords lol

Oooohhh… I get it, VS Mo: Use Vermilliom Bird Camp; Against Yao: Use Golden Crow Camp use Gong Liang Wei’s Seal xiu to attack as the forging division support; against Xiuzhe: Use Guard Camp with Flower Yao Coexistance Art as support. This will create a 3-way false flag operation to screw everyone attacking.
