Most of them were hired workers, not servants. To them, they just changed employers. If this boss wasn’t good, they could leave.
“Daren, are we going to stay here in the future?” Lei Peng asked in a rumbling voice.

personally I think Wei Sheng is the coolest because he showcased his overwhelming power. It may have visually looked less awesome then the other Jindian fights but in pure quality of his prowess he clearly showed his superiority.
The author felt like he had put the three grandfathers on approximately the same power level so he then went and show cased the next three great individual powers under Zou Mo. From least and longest fight ( fought with ling power) to shortest and most dominant Wei Sheng.
The longest fight actually was Wei Shengs because they all started fighting at the same time but the eldest was the last one to to be killed. Xie Shan’s fight took a lot of time to describe but it actually only happened in the time to burn an incense stick.
active use of abilities though is a bit different. It felt like Wei Sheng was monitoring the other fights and analyzing his opponents abilities. His actual use of Ling power was much less as well. Both of the other fights rendered the both sides either dead or unable to continue. There was no mention made about Wei needing to rest up so he could have fought another fight immediately afterword’s. It even fells like he could have taken on at least two of those grandfathers.
Oh I agree with you about the power scale. Wei is the strongest. I was just being nit-picky and commenting on the actual elapsed time.
The translator said Wei Sheng was the coolest. Xie Shan less than Zong Ru less than Wei Sheng.
Actually the grandfather Wei Sheng faced was not on the same level of the other two, not only was he supposedly a perfect counter for Wei but he also had a deeper cultivation than all of the present, being jindan second stratum, while everybody else was still first stratum. Meaning Wei’s strenght may be more than just a level above the other two since he was disappointed by his opponent, unlike the others who got the win without that much of a buffer. Wei Sheng is probably on par with a run-of-the-mill jindan third stratum, while the other two are just very strong jindan first stratum, one because he is almost in the second stratum already and the other because it has wish power. So… yeah, for instance if it was Xie Shan facing Wei’s opponent he would have probably 100% lost since he was gonna come up short even in his strong suit which is ling power.
Ok, I guess it’s time for those mad scientists to carve the whole island in turtle style defense.
that island sky formation seams to be pretty good already… might be a good idea to see if you can transplant it onto little black, so you have a car alarm on it…

Now Zuo Mo finally has some territory on his hands convenient. That family really was arrogant as it is clear from this they didn’t have much backing outside of their personal strength.
They truly didn’t raise their child well at all if they really cared for her they wouldn’t have spoiled her to the point of stupidity.
Zuo Mo’s group has instilled natural selection towards that family hopefully things will not escalate out of hand like the last time Zuo Mo interacted with civilization…
In such a setting, teaching your child morals is secondary. Teaching her good sense and survival instincts is primary. She should have been raised like Xu- learn when to speak politely, and when to be quiet and stand back while more powerful individuals fight it out.
I know she had her grandfathers as shields, but it seems inevitable that some foreigners would eventually stumble in and take her pretty little head since they are ignorant of her family. She is a lemming running right at the cliff.
or at least learn when to keep her mouth shut. the whole episode would have been avoided if she hadn’t started spouting off at the end.

It might be expected, really. These were roaming xiu, ie- they are using poor spells that they just happened to have the skill to bring to a high level. They are likely first generation for their family, and personally brought it to prominence. No older generations to give foundations.
Really, the only surprising bit is the qing’s parents. I didn’t expect much (single ningmai at most), but they were unmentioned (only implied since she is the ‘granddaughter’)
it’s not really poor spells, they are probably quite good actually, since they are able to support jindan cultivation, and above tire one jindan at that.
Just becouse most Xiu value sword xiu as supreme and formation/crafting as second, doesn’t mean that elemental xiu are bad. they are just unfashionable. the sword wins any 1v1, the formation cultivators are the base defenders, and the body cultivators are the expensive rearguards.
But a sword cultivator are glass cannons, and the formation sects are immobile, whereas the body cultivators are super expensive, hard to train and lacks attack.
So really, only the elemental xiu versatile.

I like fights, and I like to see how they bulldoze over all the stupid people, but I REALLY love reading about the city building and ling fields and beasts. I’m so excited! I hope it’s a long arc (and that we actually get the development I’m looking forward to 😀 )

they shouldn’t make walls out of that sand. they are after all only planning on staying for about half a year-a few years at this point. doing the Sun City all over again will be plenty, especially seeing how it’s a formation that makes itself stronger over time, and he now is an even greater forger with even better fire.
not to mention that the golden sand is so expensive, that using it to build walls (outside of it’s dessert) is so wasteful and expensive that you are likely to draw the attention of the big sects, and making your walls expensive enough for them to motivate to send a huge army over to plunder.
a bit contra productive for a defensive formation (costing enough to make attacking it worth it)

So good! To think how far Zuo Mo and crew have come is insane. They used to be scared of people in ningmai and now they dominate Jindan with relative ease 😀
I was thinking if Zuo Mo and his group (they need a sect name already) can fight evenly with Wu Kong Sect as it was before Zuo Mo left. With 4 abnormally strong Jindan, I think Zuo Mo and his group would be roughly equal but still would lose. The students haven’t surpassed the masters get but I feel they r super close
well, their money making skills and turtling skills are already way superior (Ge took the best crafters with him in exile from the sect, and only kept the very best). And if you are facing a defensive battle, Zuo Mos gang is probably your best choise. i sort of want to see what madness Ge and the crafting sect would come up with if they where hired by a large moneybag to forge hold a position, and all materials they asked for where there…
There are only two people from the people he took to the island that are with him. None of the other crafters were the best, they were the ones that were newly absorbed into the sect and that is the very reason they left, no attachment to the sect and the fact that it let them rot on the island when they fled the jie.

Zuo Mo doesn’t have just a few jindan. He has an ARMY. He has several ningmai who are so strong they can defeat a normal jindan in single combat. He has a hundred platoons who can use techniques like three-wave attack to slaughter jindan like cattle.
Wu Kong sect, on the other hand, is a mess. They have some strong jindan, but, as for the rest, they have no generals, no battlefield training, no war experience, just numbers.
A battle against Wu Kong would be a replay of the battle against the huge Clear Sky host.
They would win actually because it will not be one-on-one fights. What do you take ge for? Gangfighting. Vermillion Bird Camp vs four jindan, really no contest there.

pretty much going to agree with author here, the cleanup of a few dussin ningmai actually doesn’t deserve more than a single paragraph, even though he didn’t give them even that…

Looks liks Ge profitedin Spells this time with Wood, Water & Fire Spells of high level. Including the Earth element spell he got, he just needs a Gold/Metal element spell to complete the set. After learning them, he may want to upgrade his farmer medal and sword formation scripture.
not sure what gains he would get from having a higher ranked farming medal. Isn’t that more useful for when you are seeking to get employed by others?
I guess it could also work as a recruitment tool, “We have the best ling grains, our daren even has a gold farming medal”
but he really isn’t looking for any more recruits, and even if he did, the whole “we offer free golden crow fire, mystical power up tattoos and a complimentary fifth grade sword” ought to be more than enough…
For Jingshi, Shang Wei Ming previously mentioned that the prices of commodities have risen greatly thanks to an increased population. Since they’re going to be here for a while and Lil’ Turtle can have 5th-grade ling fields if they get the right soil, it’ll be a waste not to upgrade since his current medal is for 3rd-grade ling fields. Also to show off, “I am a ningmai ling plant farmer and can still kill Jindan.”
he doesn’t need the medal to sell produce, he will just get payed due to quality anyways.
I mean, sure, get the dirt, and do the farming, but is there really any need to get the medal? He the head of the company, no one needs to see his diploma anymore.
soo the only real reason is to show of, and he has never been to concerned about doing that. it has always been more of a side effect of not caring what people think about him.
Right, Ge doesn’t show off unlike Silly Bird. But it is still more profitable to upgrade his medal due to branding, a higher level farmer can charge more than a basic level farmer even when selling grains of equal quality thanks to the name of the brand.

Zuo Mo is at the very Top since he didn’t even compete.

Not gonna lie? Zuo Mo had a pretty high coolness factor in how he insta ended that kid. Yeah she was tons weaker but c’mon, it was cool. A quick *snap CRACK* and the battle was begun. Truly a masterpiece.

Disliking how he thinks few hundred (docking fees) & now few tens of thousands is a lot. Sure… He is probably low on jingshi since they haven’t actually mined any since little mountain jie. But!!
They did get whole bunch of loot from flower women alliance + tons of gold sand (or should of). I mean he had 90,000 jingshi before when he was zhuji. I imagine the colossal amount of things he picked up is worth 10s or 100s of millions converted into 3rd grade. After all a semi 4th grade ring cost him, what? 100 4th grade or 50k 3rd converted.
