Chapter Four Hundred and Sixty One – The World Upended
Scenes of laughter and chatting was seen everywhere on Turtle Island.
When the people spoke about what they did this time, all of them were excited, and they were especially satisfied when they thought about the fearful and timid gazes of those business people.
“Ha, you guys don’t know. When those people look at me, it was like they are looking at an ogre!” Lei Peng was proud as he motioned with both hands.
“You look like a ogre.” Nian Lu added in a small voice.
Everyone burst out in laughter, including Lei Peng himself.
In the big hall, Zuo Mo and the others were gathered together with bright eyes.

If we can use all of them, can’t we solve a great part of the problem of lacking ling plant farmers?” Ji Wei showed excitement. “Ling plant farmers can kill those pests, so why can’t sword xiu? We especially asked Teacher Wei. He told us that theoretically, there is no problem and he also demonstrated for us. Through Teacher Wei’s guidance, we designed a completely new formation. Its development was delayed by the matter with the jade scrolls, so we just finished it recently!”

They do use them. Don’t you remember that that was why they were hunting fiend beasts so vehemently? And that body cultivator they picked up wants them so he can get medicine for his friend. lol the famers become automated. formation belt farming commence. The math is a bit off. If it increased by 100, then that’s a 20% increase, not a five fold increase.
I wonder how much area each formation covers, how much jingshi they require to operate, and what percentage of 3rd grade ling plants are worth enough to offset the costs. Also wondering if they even need to hire people anymore 😉

I’m a bit tired of seeing Zuo Mo be nothing more than a figurehead. His innate talent was said to be formations and five element spells, yet he hasn’t done it. Translator, will the story keep going in this vein? Even the farming bit that is my favorite was solved by others.
No … … you can think of this bit as showing the consequences of what Zuo Mo has already done like giving knowledge to Golden Crow Camp and making his subordinates strong. However, in the end, there are only some opponents that he and a select few others can face.
Also, what can be said to be his best talents have evolved through this story. Yes, he started out with formations and five element spells but that’s not true now. His best is his formations and mo physique.

I’m just imagining the vast wave of unemployed ling farmers waving signs outside of turtle island while yelling “They stole our jobs!” If this got out it could easily cause huge waves of economic chaos to sweep the world!
No, they just made it easier for them to do their jobs over a large area. Instead of being a farmer/draft animal/coolie busting backside all day and returning home too exhausted to cultivate, they just need to operate the formations regularly, check on the crop status then go home and work on their cultivation with the Turtle series scrolls to hit ningmai/jindan earlier. Who wouldn’t want more time to work for longer lifespan?
It would be funny if unions start popping up to protect the jobs of workers and protest increasing automation.
These formations all need someone to monitor them to work. So it’s more like the industrial revolution, Skilled ling farmers probably won’t be out of jobs. Un-certified ling farmers who used to work a couple of acres of land to will probably be on the unemployment lines.
