修真世界 World of Cultivation Chapter Five Hundred and Sixty Nine – “Lan Tian Long”

Chapter Five Hundred and Sixty Nine – Lan Tian Long

“The Lan Family is a very old family, their history can be traced back thousands of years. They rule three jie, their conduct is in the open yet strict. They are brave and skilled in battle. However, ever since five hundred years ago, their family has not produced a marshal so their power has declined, that is, until Lan Tian Long and Lan Rong appeared. They are the most accomplished members of this generation and have been labeled as geniuses who are likely to enter marshal level, especially Lan Tian Long. He is extremely strong and was able to establish himself securely in Great Peace City. The presence of the Lan Family has grown as well … …”

Tao Xing talked about it as though it was a family affair. He had once lived in Great Peace City and was familiar with this ancient family.

On a roll, Tao Xing did not notice Zuo Mo had put down A Gui.

“The prestigious families are all families where marshals have appeared. Those that do not have marshals, even if they are strong now, cannot withstand the power of history. In the eyes of others, they are just the nouveau riche, they do not have strong foundations, and cannot be truly called large clans. In Great Peace City, families that do not have fundamentals are looked down on … …”

Tao Xing suddenly stopped. His eyes widened, his face full of terror.

Zuo Mo lightly leapt forward under his terrified gaze and landed on the center of the street, blocking the advance of the blue dragon rhinoceros troop.

“En!” Lan Tian Long’s eyes narrowed, and a vicious light flashed. He lightly tapped the blue dragon rhinoceros with his foot and the blue dragon rhinoceros stopped.

The entire rhinoceros troop stopped at the same time. The Lan Family mo on the backs of the rhinoceroses looked viciously at Zuo Mo that was blocking their path.

The noisy street quickly quieted. Everyone looked in surprise at Zuo Mo.

Lan Tian Long had been in Great Peace City for more than three years. In these three years, he had had hundreds of large and small battles but rarely lost. The Lan Family had regained prestige in the eyes of the public due to this.

In Great Peace City, Lan Tian Long was famous. When everyone noticed that someone had dared to stop Lan Tian Long’s rhinoceros troop, they were very shocked.

In a blink, the enormous street emptied.

Shu Long and the others did not move. They did not know what Daren was doing but they were very calm. They were blindly confident in Daren.

Tao Xing opened his mouth, his face shocked. Zuo Mo’s sudden action caused his mind to blank. Tang Fei, Shou Ping and the others changed expression and were terrified.

In the now silent and empty street, an enormous rhinoceros troop and a lone figure faced off.

“Ha, it’s been awhile since I came to Great Peace City, it seems that everyone doesn’t recognize Old Long anymore.” Lan Tian Long smiled darkly. His sharp teeth flashed with frightening light under the sunlight. He raised his head and looked down at Zuo Mo. “Boy, you don’t want to live?”

“I’m asking for a person from you.” Zuo Mo’s tone was deep. Those familiar with him would be able to detect the fierce emotions suppressed under his deep voice. The emotions were like the raging flows under the thin layer of ice that rampaged soundlessly!

“Asking for a person?” Lan Tian Long’s tone was surprised. He narrowed his eyes, “Which  person?”

“The seventh blue dragon rhinoceros, in the cage, the one in the blue robe,” Zuo Mo said coldly.

“Oh?” Lan Tian Long glanced over towards the seventh blue dragon rhinoceros. He quickly found the target. A youth inside the cage with unfocused eyes. The youth looked with a puzzled and slightly shocked gaze at Zuo Mo.

If Wei Sheng was here, he would definitely recognize the youth in the cage

– Luo Li!

Zuo Mo’s second shixiong, Luo Li!

Lan Tian Long chuckled, “This little xiuzhe! He’s pretty handsome, you want him? Haha.”

Crack crack crack, Zuo Mo’s hanging fist gave off a string of crackling noises.

His life on Wu Kong Mountain flashed in front of his eyes. Even though he had separated from Wu Kong Sword Sect due to many reasons, he had deep feelings towards Wu Kong Sword Sect. However, he usually hid these attachments deep inside. Now that he saw Luo Li Shixiong in the cage, his mind exploded.

Something happened to Wu Kong Sword Sect! Something had definitely happened to Wu Kong Sword Sect!

Zuo Mo’s blood seemed to burn. Fierce murderousness was like a fierce beast freed from its cage that charged at his mind. Every part of his body was trembling, uncontrollably trembling!

How was it possible … ..

How could it be possible!

His eyes filled with blood.

However, Zuo Mo was more accomplished than in the past. He had seen more and experienced more. He took a deep breath and suppressed the turmoil inside. He suddenly raised his head, his bloodshot eyes staring at the other. He slowly spoke, his voice deep and hoarse, emphasizing each word.

“According to the rules of Great Peace City, I challenge you.”

Boom, everyone in the surroundings exploded in noise. The rules of challenge in Great Peace City was if both sides accepted the challenge, then it was alright to kill one’s opponent and not get punished. In other words, the challenge must gamble with their own life.

Lan Tian Long’s gaze suddenly became extremely vicious. His murderousness spread without restraint. All sounds of discussion suddenly choked off as though someone gripped their necks. The spectators were both scared and excited. Lan Tian Long’s almost tangible murderousness rushed at Zuo Mo like furious waves smashing against the shore. Even from far away, a person would be affected.

Tang Fei and Shou Ping’s complexions were ashen and bloodless. In front of such raging murderousness, the strength of a brigadier was as minuscule as an ant. Their hearts instantly sank. They could not understand why Zuo Mo would provoke such a scary opponent!

Was he insane?

Tao Xing recovered from his shock at this time, and his face was as white as paper. He felt great regret. Why had he told this person the rules of challenge in Great Peace City just now? He really was an idiot!

Lan Tian Long had not expected the matter would become like this. He was not afraid of battle. How could anyone that came to Great Peace City be afraid of a challenge? However, it depended on what it was for. He felt it was absurd to accept a challenge for a worthless slave.

What made him feel a thread of uncertainty was he detected a twinge of danger.

The youth in front of him looked extremely average but for some reason, he had a premonition of danger like he was being targeted by a poisonous snake.

He had been through hundreds of battles and was extremely experienced. He believed in his intuition. He knew that this intuition was an instinct hardened through battle.

Lan Tian Long narrowed his eyes.

The murderousness grew. Faint blue mist erupted from his body like steam. In this moment, Lan Tian Long’s aura caused even the sun in the sky to lose color.

Suddenly, Lan Tian Long gave a loud roar of laughter and his murderousness disappeared without a trace.

“Such heroic mannerism! Good man! I, Lan Tian Long, like meeting good men like Brother!” Speaking, he waved his hand back, “Come, get that slave!”

A subordinate quickly carried Luo Li over.

“Since Brother likes him, I’ll give him to you!” There wasn’t any brutality on Lan Tian Long’s face, only a face full of sunshine and undisguised admiration. There wasn’t any trace of insincerity.

Zuo Mo was surprised. Lan Tian Long seemed to have switched to a completely different personality. His face changed at a fantastical speed. However, Zuo Mo also felt some admiration. Normal people could not change like Lan Tian Long did.

The rumors that he was a brutal killer were not true. This person had a scheming mind and was not a simple-minded person.

“Many thanks, Brother Lan!” Zuo Mo was not a stupid person. Just now, he was fighting with his back to a cliff. He did not have any certainty he would win.

Lan Tian Long smiled widely. “Just a small matter, nothing to speak about. To be able to meet a hero like Brother, it is alright to give them all to you!” Finishing, he took down a metal token from his waist and threw it to Zuo Mo.

Zuo Mo caught it.

“Brother, if you are free, come to my rundown compound to drink. There’s nothing else, but there will be enough liquor to make sure Brother gets drunk!” Among the loud laughter, the rhinoceros troop rumbled as it moved. The voice came from far away and was extremely carefree.

At this time, Zuo Mo really did admire this guy that appeared rough yet had a deep mind. From beginning to end, he did not ask Zuo Mo’s name and his conduct was free.

“I’ll definitely visit!” Zuo Mo said in a loud voice.

The street resumed its normal activity. Many people showed admiration. Lan Tian Long’s move didn’t damage his reputation but allowed people to feel his charisma.

As to Zuo Mo’s group, they did not attract too much attention from the people around them, but a lot of attention from those in the shadows.

Zuo Mo helped Luo Li up and turned to the others saying in a deep voice, “Find a quiet place.”

Tao Xing and Tang Fei seemed to wake up from a daydream. Releasing a breath, they hurriedly led people to find a place to rest. Right now, they were startled birds. Zuo Mo had ran up and challenged someone without a second word. If this occurred a few more times, they felt they would be frightened to death.

Luo LI suddenly spoke. His voice was dry and hoarse. “Who are you? Why did you save me?”

He had been surprised just now. The other had pointed right at him so the other must know him. But when he carefully inspected Zuo Mo’s appearance, he was sure that he had never seen this person before. What was even more unbelievable was that he felt something familiar about this person. But no matter how hard he tried to think, he could not remember who the familiarity reminded him of.

Zuo Mo whispered in a low voice by his ear, “Second Shixiong, I’m Zuo Mo.”

Luo Li’s body shook, his expression freezing. A moment later, tears poured down.

He finally understood why he felt the other was familiar.

“Do not say anything. We’ll find a quiet place and speak later.” Zuo Mo’s calm voice caused Luo Li to calm down. In this moment, he was very emotional. The little greedy shidi had grown to such a state!

To Tao Xing who had stayed in Great Peace City before, finding a big compound was naturally easy. As the city master of Endless City, Tao Xing was extremely rich. Without even a change in expression, he rented out a big estate. This estate was so large that it was more than enough to hold everyone.

Guard Camp, Celestial Planet Guard, and Tang Fei’s battalion instantly started to set up defenses.

Zuo Mo hurried everyone other than Luo Li and A Gui out. There were too many mysteries that needed to be answered.

What had happened?

Translator Ramblings: And this might be the greatest Lil’ Cliffy yet. Well … … some of your guesses got close … … but didn’t say who it was from Wu Kong Sword Sect. Also, be glad that today isn’t April Fools, otherwise, I might have said that I’m going on hiatus for a week.

    1. You’re only a sec late to being first . I saw your every comment on douluo dalou when i just started reading web novels 2 years ago . xD

      1. being lazy…. and a little bit dance off with life(actual life not the dude life from back in the days).. anyways, hope ya have being doing well bro~ later~

  1. Looks like Zuo Mo’s going to absorb what’s left of Wu Kong Sword Sect into his clique. I wonder if he’ll get emotional when he runs into his master again.

Even more I wonder how frustrated she’ll be when she realizes that not only has he not stopped being so diverse in his activities, he’s even spread out his interests even more.

    1. Even worse, not only he stopped using sword but he’s also far more accomplished in mo cultivation with yao arts as the second best, even though he started as xiuzhe…

      1. Not only that, but he started a whole camp of production xiu when they told him to give up on formations and such!!

  2. Thanks for this chapter! Happy Zuo Mo got together with 2nd Xishiong!✨ I hope to see more reunions with former friends in the future. 😊 It would be fun to the Wukong Sect elders reaction when they see Zuo Mo’s state now being a Big Boss with his own subordinates & leveled-up powers.✌️

  3. Thank you for the chapter!
wyhcwe you can’t joke like that, my heart can’t handle it!
You’re the only person with such an amazing translator record that I follow, when you’re even half an hour late I worry for your safety, I think a week hiatus would land me in the hospital.

  4. woah, that Lan Tian Long has my respect. Nice job.

Anyway can someone tell me in short who Luo Li is? I can’t remember names… was he a main character back in his sect?

    1. Luo Li (罗离) – Inner sect disciple of Wu Kong Sword Sect. First appears in chapter 4, ranked fourth among the inner sect disciples of Wu Kong Sword Sect. He is naturally cold, infatuated with the sword, and extremely talented. He is the only person who managed to successfully practice [Empty Sword] in the second generation of disciples. He is recognized as the most talented person in Wu Kong Sword Sect and the one most like to achieve the sect’s ultimate scripture [Void Sword]. He used to be infatuated with inner sect disciple Hao Min. He combines [Empty Sword] and [Shapeless Sword] into the [Self-Separation] sword scripture (chapter 137).

That is written in “cast” page under World of Cultivation tab….

      1. I honestly think its cool that the author brings back a character from like 300 chapters ago, because it shows that everything is connected.

    2. He’s one of the inner sect disciples from back when Zuo Mo became one and they were less than 10 in total. He was rather skilled, but his pride and overconfidence led him to be somewhat of a narcissist and not strive really hard in his cultivation , and he disdained most other people including Zuo mo & Wei Sheng, until Zuo and Luo fight in the sect competition and it was more or less a double KO, and after that he lost most of his overconfidence and the sect elders agreed that he could then become much greater than before. Then he was among the last 5 or so facing off against Zuo Mo’s Turtle Formation in the tournament and Zuo knocking them all out and then Zuo, Wei and Luo all ended up in ‘hospital’ beds next to eachother as they were recovering and then ended up as if not friends, then atleast acknowledging eachothers’ skills.

Tl;dr , he was a haughy overconfident decently skilled older sect disciple in Wu Kong, before he just tied with Zuo Mo and lost some of that pride and later when he was knocked out by Zuo Mo along with others he became ‘normal’ in the pride department.

  5. Oops! an error! the post title is from the previous chapter:

while in post body it is
“Chapter Five Hundred and Sixty Nine – Lan Tian Long”.

it may be the reason why 569 did not show up on Novel Updates.

  6. Well, as much as it would suck, I’d be fine with you taking a vacation. You are by far one of the most reliable translators, and even if you took a break, you’d still be far ahead of the pack.

I wonder why he didn’t offer to buy him. It might have worked, and would have brought him less trouble in the long run.

  7. “he had deep feelings towards Wu Kong Sword Sect”
I hope those arent good feelings for them, it was a horible sect that treated him like s***. There were only 4 that deserve to be called close to him from the sect, and deserve saving from him. The rest were pretty much trash. I hope he wont return to that trashy sect and become a part of it again after everything they did to him. And yeah i really hate his old sect.

    1. Most of the sect is at worst guilty of ‘negligence’ not actually hindering him. And that’s because they weren’t really a rich or really famous sect, so they could only fully support very few geniuses, and until Zuo Mo showed off in the intersect competition and the local tournament, he wasn’t really considered a genius.

But he was still picked up by the sect master ( I think it was atleast) when he was of totally unknown origin and there was evidence of someone rather powerful doing something to him, and he did spend several years there and he did leave the sect with much better situation than he entered, so all in all, if you say he shouldn’t have positive feelings towards the sect, then you need to reread that entire arc.

      1. The only thing the sect did for him, was take him in and nothing else. He achieved everyhting on his own, and when he showed promise, which other sect would have appriciated and nurture. His sect elders kept punishing him and forcing him on a path that wasent meant for him. So yeah the sect head took him, but they dident treat him well. And he has already contributed with much to the sect, so he dosent owe them anything.

      2. They took home when he was one step away from death door and healed him. They give him home and job even though he have dont memory or family.

A position in sect many others would love to have

      3. They were a sword sect in a sword cultivating area ruled by the strongest sword sect. And sword cultivators are known to be the most ruthless / efficient / strongest xiuzhe cultivators in actual combat.

I’ll admit they might’ve been a bit forceful but they did have several logical reasons to do it :
        a) Higher cultivation means longer lifespan
        b) Higher cultivation means better combat capabilities
        c) Higher cultivation means better survival abilities
        d) Higher cultivation means they can’t be taken advantage of by as many people
        e) They’re a sword sect, they’re best at sword cultivations, so of course they would try to teach him the best way they could
        f) Higher cultivation for Zuo Mo means Zuo Mo becames more famous, and if ZM becomes more famous, WKSS becomes more famous and improves

Let’s switch sword cultivation for ‘normal’ school studies and look at it. Everyone else is in school, ZM is the only one not in school and he does whatever he likes on the outside, ignoring what everyone else thinks is the best thing to do, because he just wants to become rich.

Whether he owes them or not is another matter, you said he wouldn’t actually have any positive feelings regarding them.

    2. Beggars can’t be chooser, man. Ge got saved by the sect master and given a chance to make a living there when he was a zombie, others may just let him die like a dog and you think ge doesn’t develop deep feelings for the sect? It’s called ingratitude, a sin one shall not do!

      1. He received “Life” from the Sect Leader and the Sect, even if you belittle it so, it is life and it can only be repaid with life, which I assume he will by rescuing the sect later.

  8. Zuo Mo and Lil’Miss are experiencing somewhat similar things, yet their attitude is different. Lil’Miss almost won a battle only to have the opponent surrender and offer him alliance…which caused him to feel unsatisfied…Zuo Mo challenged the Famous Mo only to have that Mo giving him Luo Li as a gift so that the Mo can avoid the fight. And Zuo Mo is pleased: Got what I wanted without trouble, not to mention free drinks on top of that. Good business.

  9. Now I really worries about his friend in the sect especially that sweet, crying lady (Zuo guo) I guess and his master too.

  10. Meatbun Delivery~
Thank you for the chapter ( ●w●)

Eeh?! They really became brothers?! And aww.. so close.. my comment last chapter was inversed..

  11. Most of the comments seem to miss the simple fact that Luo Li was the first genius while under him working as a sword servant was our great Elder Brother Wei.

  12. Oh damn, I just realized Luo Li was the other guy from the sect that was their top talent before Wei Sheng, right? Nice that the authour hasn’t been forgetting a lot of characters. Only really the paper crane girl and his Shidi that raises ling beasts have been forgotten.

    1. I’m actually quite terrified to see what that particular Shidi has been doing aaaaaaaaaaaaaaall this time…Since The Mad Scientist Gene seems to be prominent in Zuo Mo Clan…
      Like:
      – Animal husbandry Shidi adjusts his swirly glasses and cackles:”It’s ALIVE, muahahahhahhaha…”
*lightning strikes and thunder rumbles ominously*

    2. CYC hasn’t been forgotten. He’s purposefully not be mentioned since he’s frankensteining a huge army right now. Insect carpet? F-that. His butterfly army is busy attacking Zuo Mo at the moment.

You know who I really miss? The three stooges.

      1. Everyone is vermillion bird camp for that matter. Also, I find it odd that there are no noteworthy/named characters among Zuo Mo’s Yao slaves, yet guard camp and nearly all of his other forces have some forms of representatives.

    3. Man, I forgot all about that paper crane girl. It’s been so long, it feels like those characters are from a completely different story.

  13. Where are my cliches? We’re 569 chapters in and :

    1) Not everybody the MC meets is arrogant AND stupid.
    2) Barely a harem in sight.
    3) Not a single mention of how the MC is actually reincarnated from Earth.
    4) The author is obviously making money by the word wasting his time building character for the sidekicks.

  14. regained prestige the eyes > regained prestige in the eyes | Zuo Mo’s suddenly action > sudden | In the, now, silent > In the now silent

    Thanks for the chapter.

    1. Oh, and the chapter title is wrong on the table of contents and stuff. This is chapter 569, and it’s listed as 568.

  15. Ahahaha! Oh my. It’s a good thing today is not april’s fool day. Thank you for the chapter.

  16. Thanks for the chapter WYHCWE and WanderingGummiOfDoom! Looks like Zuo Mo will be wandering around the slave markets buying up the people from his old sect.

  17. Who wants to bet that some big sect pressured his sect into going into the front lines, causing the whole thing to crumble? I bet he’ll find more of his fellow disciples in Mo lands. This also sets up the next arc where he takes down a large sect to either save or avenge the people he knew.
