Zhang shi faltered and didn’t dare to speak. She could only watch as Lu shi walked out of her room.
Just out of the door, Lu shi saw Hua Zhi Ming walk into the yard. Lu shi stopped and looked at Hua Zhi Ming expressionlessly.
Hua Zhi Ming looked at Zhang shi’s messy room behind Lu shi and then gave a bow towards Lu shi. “Greetings, Dasao.”

My mom is from a small and poor family from Mexico. She said the women there would drink a certain herb tea daily that prevents pregnancy and then they would drink another tea that would cause force miscarriage but only works if it’s the beginning of a fetus forming. There are others that cause severe side effects like random or week long periods and nausea, but my family prefer not saying unless it’s an emergency.
Drinking such medicine is rather harmful to the body, because it’s forcing the built fetus to be scrapped off the uterus. Like morning pill in modern world is also not advisable to use regularly, it’s only for emergency measure if one forgot taking precaution before, but definitely not in regular basis.

Me: I always thought this. HZM really should be angry at himself not just his wife. He can’t just stand there and think he had nothing to do with it. At the least if he supported his daughter more when she came back (after the divorce) she wouldn’t be maltreated by the servants and feel even more lonely. Both parents arent that great. The only one that I could commend in that family was the brother. HX is right to say if something goes wrong we blame the mother but if it’s right we praise the father (at least in the time period of this story).
