Section Two – The Battle of Blue Jade Fragrance

Chapter One – Three Venerable Swordsmen

Many gazes were focused on the trio. The dragon knights on their earth spined dragons were always eye-catching wherever they went, this was especially so with this regal silver dragon.

Kai Ge, Aofeng, and Lei Yufeng were accustomed to gazes like this, and did not care about the burning stares. Kai Ge put away the silver dragon and then followed the attendant inside. They found a table near the window and sat down. Aofeng looked around the large hall and felt satisfied with the elegant atmosphere of this establishment, Blue Jade Fragrance.

The corners of the floor were covered in red carpet and well crafted sedans, tables and chairs were neatly arranged in rows. Most of those here were nobility or those of high status. They were well dressed and were well-mannered. They talked quietly among themselves unlike those noisy and messy pubs.

Even so, the arrival of the three still attracted a wave of soft gasps when they entered. A silver-armored knight, a handsome man, and an aloof youth. Was there a more interesting combination than this?

“Daren, what will you require?” the attendant asked respectfully.

“Three large glasses of Blue Jade Fragrance, and two first-class rooms for us. We will most likely have to stay here for a while. Deduct it from this,” Lei Yufeng handed over a silver crystal card and said with a slight smile.

The attendant looked at the pattern on the silver crystal card and his expression grew even more solemn. People who worked here had keen eyes. Only members of the Kaya Empire’s imperial house could use this kind of card! He did not know why so many people like this arrived here today.

He subconsciously looked towards a private room upstairs and then said with a smile, “Daren, you have very good luck. As the Imperial School is currently recruiting and many people have come. Only two rooms are left. Please wait, water and wine will be here shortly.” The attendant turned to leave. Lei Yufeng and Kai Ge started ot happily talk. They had not met for many years and naturally had many things to say.

Aofeng was skilled in observing people and noticed the change in the attendant’s eyes. She looked up and glanced at the private room. She could see three figures behind the curtain. As a slight wind blew up the curtain, she saw the three clearly.

Three figures stood there, a handsome man waving a fan, a muscled man, and a regal man wearing a long blue robe. The three of them looked to be in their twenties but they did not have any of the restlessness and spiritedness of young people. Their eyes were deep as though they contained the memories of centuries.

Aofeng’s brow moved slightly in shock. She felt that these three were unfathomable. She was only able to see a general shape of their appearances but she was not able to truly see their features. Her gaze turned grave. She thought, this capital is full of experts. These three would not be weaker than her.

Aofeng turned away after a few moments. She had no interest in people unrelated to her.

“Such a sensitive little guy.” In the private room, a light pleasing laugh sounded. The indolent white-robed man leaned back on the sedan, waving his fan. He stared through the curtain at Aofeng.

Aofeng had been slightly suspicious but she would not have expected the three people in the private room were examining them and discussing them.

“Astounding perception, and great mental power. I had not expected the capital to have such a good talent. He does not look to be even sixteen, very good!” The regal man praised, his eyes full of interest. “I don’t know when Kai Ge met this individual. He did not mention him to me, he knows I am best with young people.”

The white-robed man snorted and laughed out loud. “You are best? Which of your students do not call you His Demon Excellency behind you back? If Kai Ge were to tell you, then he would be a bad friend.”

The muscled man glared and said, “Xiao Yao, do not speak nonsense! This old man is doing it for their own good. If not for that, how will they become strong? You cannot steal my students!”

“I saw him first, how did he become your student? Lei Ting, be the arbitrator. It will be a waste for Kai Te to take this student,” the white-robed man rolled his eyes and said to the blue-robed man beside him.

“Old Lei is focused on the grandson that he has not seen in many years, he has no attention to spare for you,” Kai Te said smugly.

The blue-robed man’s gaze was focused on Lei Yufeng. He finally shook his head and said, “You two are so old, and still so childish. You shame the reputation of venerable swordsmen, do not say you know me to other people.”

No one would have expected these three “young” people were the strongest of the Kaya Empire’s Imperial Court, Venerable Swordsman Xiao Yao, Venerable Swordsman Kai Te, and Venerable Swordsman Lei Ting. Their presence at Blue Jade Fragrance was a coincidence. When Aofeng and the other two entered, they had been surprised as two of the group were familiar to them. Due to this, they were curious about Aofeng.

Lei Yufeng was very proud and he had been friends with Kai Ge for many years, but where did this young guy come out of? Why did it seem Lei Yufeng was closer friends with this person than Kai Ge?

They were more surprised that Aofeng had noticed them. While it had been a glance, that pair of black eyes that seemed to see through everything and piqued the interest of the three venerable swordsmen. Even Venerable Swordsman Lei Ting who had been looking at Lei Yufeng remembered that pair of eyes.

Venerable Swordsman Lei Ting immediately evaluated, this person was not ordinary!

“Lei Ting, you have not seen Yufeng for many years, will you go down?” Venerable Swordsman Xiao Yao waved his fan and asked with a faint smile.

Venerable Swordsman Lei Ting was silent for a moment. He shook his head and said, “If they come then I will welcome them, but I am timid. I would not know what to say to him even if I met him. I will let it go, if that child wants to return home, he will. I am very interested in that youth right now. Let’s watch a bit more.” The trio”s gaze once again landed on Aofeng as they observed her every movement and action.

Aofeng did not know that she was being examined by these three powerful people. She felt her hairs stand on end, but she could not pinpoint the reason. She could only frown.

In the midst of their discussion, three glasses of blue-green wine were delivered. This was the famed drink of Blue Jade Fragrance. Blue Jade Fragrance Wine.

Holding up a cup, Aofeng took a small smile and felt mentally refreshed. It seemed like a wave of impure energy in her organs was expelled. Her gaze flashed and she softly complemented, “Good wine, better than Cerulean Mist.”

“Of course, Cerulean Mist and Blue Jade Fragrance are both top, but they are not on the same level,” Lei Yufeng laughed. Just as he finished, he heard a burst of noise coming from the doorway. The guests all frowned.

“What is happening? Who is shouting outside?” a nobleman shouted angrily.

“What, you think we are noisy?” a loud voice suddenly said. That nobleman suddenly felt a wave of pressure appear in front of him. His knees weakened and he fell off his chair. He looked up with anger at the doorway. However, when he saw the two tall and thin figures walking in, he froze.

Aofeng looked over coldly. The two middle-aged men walking in all wore a magister flashing with silver light. On their right shoulder was a small blue “Qin” character. The two badges were all celestial magister badge!

Two Qin Family celestial magisters!

Shouts came from behind them, “The enforcers of the Qin Family!”

The restless crowds immediately quieted. Even the nobleman who had been pushed to the ground did not dare to say anything. He shrank back. Who had the gall to offend members of the Qin Family, especially two celestial magisters? He would have to swallow his teeth even if they were knocked off.

“Has the Qin Family always been such a bully?” Aofeng raised an eyebrow, her voice cold.

“Not all of them. But the two here are definitely that kind of people,” Kai Ge said. He also did not like these two people who came and disrupted others.

Aofeng had not wanted to make trouble but the two of them looked around and then landed on the trio. They came closer and asked, “You were the ones that reserved the last two first-class rooms in Blue Jade Fragrance?”

“So what if we did?” Aofeng said coldly.

One of the men nodded and said, his head held up high, “Give us the keys, we need one first-class room. We will give you back twice your money, go stay elsewhere, or share with your friend.”

As he spoke, the man threw out a heavy bag filled with obsidian. Then he stretched out a hand and looked at the trio, motioning for them to quickly deliver the key.

Aofeng was shocked, extremely shocked. What was this? Stealing in public?

Even if she was dreaming, she had not expected the Qin Family to be so powerful in the imperial capital?

Lei Yufeng and Kai Ge were speechless. They felt as though they had swallowed a fly. They were members of the Imperial House and never expected they would be openly robbed in the capital one day!

At this time, the attendant from before ran over, disheveled and with a black eye. He pointed at Kai Ge with a sorrowful expression, “Enforcer Daren, I have already said this Daren is a dragon knight.”

“So what if he’s a dragon knight? Don’t dragon knights have their own residence in the capital? Are the other two dragon knights as well?” The two men looked at Lei Yufeng and Aofeng and said arrogantly, “Since you are not dragon knights, then do not refuse the drink of respect for the drink of punishment. Present the key!”

Translator Ramblings: Three gossipy old man but I really feel for Lei Yufeng’s grandfather. Also, it took great control for me not to name this chapter the three musketeers.
