Long post with lots of pics today.
Episode 14 starts back in the dorms Wei Wei and her friends. She ends up chatting online with Xiao Nai’s friends about Yu Gong’s idiom skills and gives them their divine-level pets. They tease her about Xiao Nai’s trip as in the novel. Their chat is disrupted by Er Xi finding the post about Aixiang Nai Er on Wei Wei’s appearance and relationship with Xiao Nai.
A dramatic entrance by Meng Yi Ran into the ballroom which attracts everyone’s attention. Xiao Nai, Manager Wang, and Feng Teng quickly turn their attention back and Fengteng invites Xiao Nai to “drink tea” the next morning in his office. The voice actor for Feng Teng really doesn’t match discount-Feng Teng’s appearance … …
Meng Yi Ran keeps Aixiang Nai Er’s advice to keep to herself in mind as she stares at Xiao Nai.
When Xiao Nai gets another cup of wine, he hears some other males chatting about her and thinking that she is here to “work.” The men want to take her out to “dinner” after the party. Xiao Nai walks towards Meng Yi Ran and remarks loudly that Meng Yi Ran’s uncle, the CEO of Zhen Yi, was looking for her.
Then he walks away. Meng Yi Ran is elated because what Aixiang Nai Er said about Xiao Nai seeking her out was proven true if she stayed aloof.
Er Xi finds that Aixiang Nai Er’s blog was hacked. The girls wonder who do it and it cuts to Xiao Nai’s dorm. Yu Gong mentions that Wei Wei’s scholarship is even higher than what he has as they wait hand-and-foot on Mo Zha Ta who is apparently responsible for the hack.
The next day, the events occur as in the novel with Er Xi asking Xiao Nai to take them to dinner. When Wei Wei calls Xiao Nai, he is in a car with someone else looking at a contract about the copyright of the game. The girls buy the red dress online for Wei Wei rather than going down to the shop.
Aixiang Nai Er and Meng Yi Ran are pictured at the French restaurant. Meng Yi Ran gives Aixiang Nai Er a bottle of Chanel Number 5.
Wei Wei discovers Meng Yi Ran in the restaurant and has the same conversation with her friends. Aixiang Nai Er tells Meng Yi Ran to take thing slowly. She states that because Xiao Nai has never had a relationship before, he needs to know what he likes and it is not always the best to be the first relationship. She adds that people don’t get married to their first romantic partners (Professor Xiao and Mrs. Xiao … …) Na Na sends Meng Yi Ran a text message about Aixiang Nai Er’s blog post which Meng Yi Ran did not know. Meng Yi Ran is shown to be angry and the scene cuts away.
At the fish restaurant, Wei Wei stops Er Xi from ordering so much and takes her for a conversation outside where she states her desire for Xiao Nai to not discover her huge appetite. However, when they go back into the room, Xiao Ling and Si Si have already ordered and expose how much Wei Wei has eaten in the past.
Xiao Nai reassures Wei Wei by telling her he believes in her ability (to eat eight kilos of fish and five kilos of shrimp with her friends.)
The same conversation occurs in the car and the hug as well.
The episode ends with the friends sighing over how Xiao Nai responded to a question about what he thought about the post (Having is better than not having.)
Episode 15
The episode beings with Er Xi late to movie class again. Cao Guang refuses to move for her to get to her spot and they argue. Er Xi provokes him by mentioning how he was unable to get Wei Wei and the stir attracts the attention of the professor who punishes them by getting the two of them to make the video record for this year’s graduation ceremony.
When doing the recording, the two split up the tasks and Cao Guang wants Er Xi to be in one of the shots. When he sees Er Xi in frame he is struck but quickly recovers.
The situation worsens when Er Xi sees Wei Wei and Xiao Nai come out of the library having borrowed books for Wei Wei to study during school vacation. Er Xi insists on recording an interview with the two of them but Cao Guang is extremely reluctant. After one questions, Cao Guang shuts the camera and storms away. Er Xi is left to chase after him.
Cao Guang tries to delete the footage of Wei Wei and Xiao Nai when he and Er Xi go to dinner. Er Xi tries to stop him so the two fight and the camera drops into the soup. Er Xi takes it and tries to turn it on which fries the camera.
Mo Zha Ta hawks his blankets and other possessions on the street by telling people he’s never failed since he started using the blankets.
Wei Wei easily realizes it is Mo Zha Ta. When Xiao Nai mentions going to dinner, Mo Zha Ta tells them to change the location and brings them back to the place where mystery-server is working.
Mo Zha Ta tells his friends to come back and eat here. He also tells KO he’ll tell people to come eat but KO refuses by saying he’s not the owner and it is very tiring. He also tells Mo Zha Ta it would be good if he was the only one that came and Mo Zha Ta agrees to keep it a secret.
After dinner, they go to a snooker place where Xiao Nai teaches Wei Wei how to play because he was tired of Xiao Nai winning. After a few shots, Xiao Nai tells Wei Wei it is late so they go back to campus while the others keep playing after mention he wants to put a snooker table in his home.
Wei Wei ends up giving Xiao Nai the brooch after the conversation at night with Xiao Nai confessing that this is his first relationship, he doesn’t know what he is supposed to do but will do what other people have done.
Xiao Nai and his friends play cards into the night and Yu Gong is forced to write a letter of his debts that he owe to Yu Gong. They realize that they don’t have summer vacation and this is goodbye to their university, going out onto the deck and shouting.
The next morning, Xiao Nai drives Wei Wei to the train station.
Wei Wei finds him even more standoffish but he bought cold medicine for her. When she gives him the cactus, she explains as in the novel that she didn’t know him when she bought the ticket.
The episode ends at the train station with Xiao Nai telling Wei Wei he’s going to buy a platform ticket. When Wei Wei tries to hurry after him and stop him, Xiao Nai responds by saying “Furen, your luggage is heavy, please sit for a moment.”
The last part almost made up for the ten minutes I had to watch about Er Xi and Cao Guang. I know that the actor playing Er Xi has second billing but this is a lot of time devoted to her. I’m not sure that there is a need to set off Wei Wei and Xiao Nai’s “perfect” relationship by contrasting it against Er Xi’s relationship. At the least, they could have found a different character. Is there a need to make it seem Er Xi is picking Wei Wei’s leftovers? (to borrow what Gu Man said about Nai He and Zhen Shui Wu Xiang.)
Xiao Nai probably stepped over the line when he sent the video to Wei Wei and managed to get something into her computer that told him what she was doing.(Or maybe that the video is on a server and he can see it whenever she access it? But no excuses, he was invading her privacy) Other than that, his actions are more on the side of a suitor which is separated by a thin line from being a stalker. Cao Guang, on the other hand, is definitely in the territory of a stalker. The main difference between them is that Cao Guang is pursuing Wei Wei even though she has stated her disinterest. He disregards what she thinks and then blames her for not accepting him and getting in a relationship with someone else. Both of them tried to be at places she was at (Xiao Nai at history class, Cao Guang in the hallways) but only Cao Guang tried to get Wei Wei to talk her him even though she did not want to. He also carries his terrible attitude over to Er Xi who is innocent in this episode.
