This is late-late because I was out early before the episodes came out, came back and took a nap before watching.
The first one-third of Episode 16 is essentially the farewell between Wei Wei and Xiao Nai plus Wei Wei recalling all the things that happened between them. It is a very nice way to reminding people how many good memories they have but a long drag to watch. Xiao Nai then holds a meeting with his workers to talk about their upcoming work. The audience is informed that the mobile game they are developing with Fengteng is “Dreams of Jianghu” and they are aiming to also get the chance to develop “New Chinese Love Story.” To accomplish this, they have to create a miniature game within three months.
Only the last one-third of the novel add something new after a third of the episode is Xiao Nai and Wei Wei chatting online while Wei Wei keeps their relationship a secret from her parents. Mo Zha Ta finds that his desktop wallpaper has changed from his “Goddess” to a picture of a temple after sleeping for a night at the office. He is frightened and reveals that he felt that his computer had been weird for a few days and he could not change the wallpaper back. Xiao Nai comes back to examine Mo Zha Ta’s computer and reassures his friends that it is not someone from Zhen Yi Technologies and he has set something to detect the invader when he comes again.

Later on, KO tries to hack Mo Zha Ta’s computer and Xiao Nai engages in conversation, causing KO to realize that the person he is talking to isn’t Mo Zha Ta. Mo Zha Ta keeps KO distracted by chatting while Xiao Nai tries to track down the invader and finds that it is someone near the school. Xiao Nai manages o hack back into KO’s computer and activates the camera in the computer (safety tip: Please keep something over your webcam so people can’t hack it and then watch you over them.)

Mo Zha Ta becomes extremely depressed and decides to go out to have a large meal to comfort his “hurt soul.”

Episode 17 beings with Mo Zha Ta leaving the company to go eat where KO is working.
He ends up inviting KO to eat with him and starts drinking. Mo Zha Ta ends up drinking so much that he cannot answer KO when the other asks him where he is living. While Mo Zha Ta is knocked-out due to drinking so much, KO seems to hack into the city records and find Mo Zha Ta’s proof of property certificate for his apartment.

When Mo Zha Ta wakes up, he is on KO’s bed which is inside the restaurant. Mo Zha Ta discovers that KO is using his blankets which Mo Zha Ta left behind during his last meal with Xiao Nai and the others and was going to throw them away. KO questions Mo Zha Ta on his tiredness and Mo Zha Ta complains about the aches on his shoulders and spine, and how his brain is exhausted.
Xiao Nai receives a call from KO at night and reveals that he is KO. Xiao Nai tells KO that it isn’t strange that he can guess it is the invader calling and states it is not hard , just like how Xiao Nai can also find KO’s cell phone number. KO gives him an hour to do so, and an hour later, KO calls to tell Xiao Nai he failed.Xiao Nai then tells KO the phone number and states he got it in five minutes. KO accuess Xiao Nai of hacking China Mobile. Xiao Nai responds that he only told China Mobile he was receiving harassment from an unknown number. Xiao Nai then states that KO would call back because KO would be the one feeling discomfort if the call did not come. Xiao Nai tells KO that he is very curious why KO is coming back repeatedly since KO is known as a loner. KO challenges Xiao Nai to register for a hacking content (I don’t know which) that is going on this night and then states if he loses, he’ll work for Xiao Nai free for a year.

Yu Gong comes in next morning and is discussing the hacking contest with his co-workers who state there were two competitors from China last night that broke the record. Xiao Nai is discovered to have stayed in the office and then informs his workers a new co-worker is coming at midnight. The others marvel how such an expert is willing to come to work at their company.
KO comes at midnight (since that is probably when his work ends.) Xiao Nai greets him and tells him that he will get a salary. KO refuses and Xiao Nai states that he will deposit it into Mo Zha Ta’s card. Xiao Nai puts Mo Zha Ta in charge of KO’s orientation. After a while, Mo Zha Ta realizes that KO is now his co-worker and starts despairing where he could get food.

There is a timeskip and another company meeting. After the meeting, Yu Gong mentions to Xiao Nai how Mo Zha Ta’s complaints have levelled off and his face has become “tender and moist” again after KO joined the company, attributing this all to the power of their “friendship.”

Wei Wei and Xiao Nai’s pet tigers get married and the events progress as in the novel. Wei Wei ends up going back to Beijing for an “internship” and the kissing happens.

Wei Wei runs to Xiao Ling’s restaurant to clean and then ends up putting Xiao Nai in the kitchen, barring him from leaving until he finishes.

The suspense would be so much better if that shirt wasn’t as recognizable … … Mo Zha Ta, you are so blind. KO was slightly careless but it is a masterful piece of manipulation on Xiao Nai’s part. KO made a mistake by phoning as he probably hacked to get Xiao Nai’s phone number, or managed to look at Mo Zha Ta’s phone. However, KO probably usually works on computers, not phones. So Xiao Nai taunts him by saying getting KO’s phone number is easy which leads KO into the trap of challenging Xiao Nai. Xiao Nai then keeps KO off-balance by not calling and so KO wants to call back and bask in success or to come back so he keeps in touch with Mo Zha Ta (I don’t get why he hacked Mo Zha Ta’s work computer rather than his personal one, did he want a job interview?) The last bit about the two of them competing at the competition was all skill on both of their parts, though. I guess I have to say that KO’s EQ is just a ~little~ bit lower so he lost. Xiao Nai seems to know what is going on with KO and Mo Zha Ta before Mo Zha Ta does … … maybe because KO is him with a little less communicative ability and grasp of other people? Stony faces, high intelligence and likes to stalk their crush.
Also, a long kissing scene between Wei Wei and Xiao Nai but am I the only one that found Yang Yang was almost face-sucking? Wei Wei is supposed to be shocked but the scene felt so weird … … I’m not sure what is going on with Xiao Nai’s kissing skills. That was a bit agonizing, I felt like he was trying to eat Wei Wei’s face.
There’s probably going to be a lot of Er Xi and Cao Guang in the next two episodes since we went through two episodes without them. I wonder if they finished the video for graduation.
Thank you for the recap. 😘
The kissing was definitely awkward 🙈
But, my god, they are both just ridiculously attractive human beings!
I thought the kissing scene was awkward more on Wei Wei’s part. I appreciate Chinese drama kissing scenes which are so much better than than those in Korean dramas where the woman looks like she is vertical planking, wide eyed and hands straight to the side in a frozen position. So, I expect some face sucking. But, the reaction by Wei Wei seemed slow and stiff as if they did too many takes of the scene and it got boring before the director got a good one.
I did not read the novel. So, KO appearance seemed weird to me. The expressions on his face looked like he had a grudge against the world. He allowed Mo Zha Ta to sort of get closer, so, I thought it was some sort of bromance or romance potential. I did not see the hacker part coming or understood why he targeted that company. I still wondering if he is a corporate spy working for the rival company. He is very talented, yet, he slaves away in the restaurant. I will hold off judgment until I see the rest of the episodes.
Ooh, hm … … I suppose Wei Wei looks stiff but I thought that was more true to the novel where she was astonished because she thought Da Shen would be angry and then he surprised her.
Aaaah, the part with Ko and Mo Zha Ta is the story of how a certain babyface decided to play a female avatar in a game, got married, ran away and then the hubby used his epic skills to find his runaway “bride.”
wait, i don’t think they got married before he ran away. it was more like they were gonna get married, then Mo Zha Ta found out that his partner’s real gender, and ran away. Isn’t that why KO demanded that they get married in that game later in the story.
Haha. In regards to the kiss scene, yes, I have similar thoughts. The only difference is that I felt he was devouring her as of the book. In a way it kinna makes sense. It is their very first kiss, minus that peck on the forehead head when she first left (in the drama) or that light kiss he gave her when she left (in the novel).
I thought it was really awkward on Wei Wei’s part. Her eyes were opened practically 98% of the time and when she finally started to close her eyes, Xiao Nai stopped 🙁 I watched the previews for the other episodes and they all seem like her eyes are open when they’re kissing. I’m so heartbroken cause I ship these two so much so my expectations for their kissing scenes extremely high
